Regional host (Top 16) - every year

Super regional host (top 8) - 5 of every 6 years

Omaha - 4 of every 5 times hosting SR

Final of 4-team bracket in Omaha (top 4) - 3 of every 4 times in Omaha

Championship series (top 2) - 2 of every 3 times in final four

Championship - At least 1 of 2 times in champ series (I know LSU is 8-1 in champ series, but the law of averages may even out over time).

End result with the above is at least 3 more championships in next 18 seasons (total of 5 in 22 seasons for Jay. Skip had 5 in 18 seasons for comparison).

If you can keep having your ace drafted #1 in MLB draft, we can expect to win the natty every other year.

In the last 40 years we’ve been to Omaha 20 times so every other year at Omaha is very reasonable.

We have won the CWS 20% of that time so a Natty every 5 years is also reasonable.

Looking at where we stand with our Coaching staff, there’s no reason to expect less.

The expectations should be to host a regional every year and make it to Omaha more often than not. Do that and the championships will fall into place

Program expectation

1. Omaha every other year
2. Top 8 National Seed every other year
3. Regional Host 3/4 years
4. Make tournament every year

I think the expectations for this board are way beyond that, considering Paul met and in some cases exceeded what you have here, yet was still hated for it because he only won a title.

Not good enough. LSU should host a regional every year

Baseball expectation is to make it to Omaha every year. Is it going to happen every year? Of course not. But, we should go into every season expecting to be in Omaha. That goes for any coach.

We have literally been to Omaha 20 times over the last 40 years. Every other year is the norm, and the expectation.

Because Kelly is still owed $10M/year… fired or not. We are stuck with him so pass the hopium until we need the copium.

I'd say the expectation has always been for each recruiting class to go to Omaha at least once, should host a regional most years, be in contention for a top 8 seed every 2-3 years, and definitely make the tournament every year.

LSU has the record for most consecutive top 8 seeds with 6 from 2012-2017. so hosting a super/getting to Omaha every year is an unreasonable expectation because that's just how baseball works.

1. O and Les were handed Ferraris. Kelly was given the keys to a Ferrari, but he had to find it amd when he did, it was wrecked with a blown engine, but the transmission was still good.

2. I give Kelly a mulligan for one year because of the NIL change. LSU, it seems, was prepared for what NIL should have been, and not for pay to play, so it hampered them while aTm bought everybody.

3. Not that i'm giving Kelly any leeway, but Verge's scheduling on season openers hasn't gotten the football team off to a good start.

4. For the last few years, the SEC especially near the top has never been better. We saw LSU vs UGA in the SEC championship, there was a clear disparity. You don't close that gap in one year.

All of that being said, the excuses are done and over with now. The players have been paid, the playoff has expanded, and LSU finally has a roster that can play with everybody. It's time for Kelly to finally have them ready to kick arse week 1. Someone needs to put him on some of the old Bonstonker YouTube videos.

Why do we need to have expectations? We can’t control what happens in the games. Just be a fan, go to the games and cheer for the team. Why isn’t that enough?

Let's be real unreasonable... I would expect him to duplicate what LSU Shreveport did this year... undefeated National Champs at 56-0... if they can do it, Jay can do it.

I mean let's look at the averages over the last 40 years.

It's reasonable to expect Omaha every other year and a championship every 5 years.

It sounds lofty but Johnson seems like he can certainly meet those.

That being said, if we go more than 5 (probably 2 or 3) without a 'ship, this place will lose its mind and want Johnson out the door.
