Really proud of LSU baseball’s improvement this season

They haven’t been swept in 4 weeks

Seems like your sources should have been able to confirm that the team hasn't been swept in the last 4 weeks.

They certainly have. Their pitching has gotten better. Coleman has emerged, and Hilliard seems to have found some control. Hellmers has become reliable once through the lineup. It’s still a weak staff, with only two starters and no closer, but sad to say, it’s an improvement.
The defense has gotten better. Arnold doesn’t boot the ball around like he used to; Thompson has gotten comfortable at SS, and is making great plays; Millazzo is SO much better than Travinski, who was just as bad at the plate against weekend competition.

Imagine what a better coach will do with these players!

They actually have. Not enough. And Paul still needs to retire. But they have improved. It's not fair to cut these young men short by not acknowledging some improvement.

I think this team will continue to improve, mainly because we have so many freshmen contributing.
I would argue though, it took longer than it should have. Thompson should have been our starting SS day one, regardless if he was struggling in practice at first or not. Doughty should have been moved to 3B sooner as well, instead of Safford and Hellmers. These were coaching mistakes and I have never bashed Mainieri before this year.
I would also argue that if Thompson and Doughty were there from the beginning, than maybe Dugas could have been moved to 2B early in the season opening up LF. That would have left us with the option in LF of Hampton, Drost or Sanford.
I think Money is a good pitcher but I would argue that Hellmers and Coleman should have been given opportunities before him.
Then of course there is the lineup.
In a nutshell, Mainieri has slowed down the development of this team.

I think the failure to develop a starting nine hurt the team early. The infield had been a circus fir the first half of the season.
I’m thinking Dugas is not a second baseman. If he was then why wasn’t he tried there? We’ve had four others start there.
Starting May we still have holes in the lineup, but at least most guys have a position.

Watched the replay of the PM show after the Ole Miss series and Pawl looked like his bookie was fixing to walk in the door to collect. Dude doesn't look comfortable in his skin at all.

Dugas actually started his career at LSU as an infielder and played some 2B as a freshmen. I also think he was a SS in high school. He is very similar to Bianco, beside hitting for a higher average.

If CPM still had that energy then I bet this team does a little better. It's like he just saps the energy away from the players.
