re: Really pains me to see the once vaunted Death Valley reduced to an abandoned shell haunted

In a meaningful game, the “magic” of Death Valley will return.

Bro the reality is tiger stadium is a social event for a ton of people who have no skin in the game. At its best, its still the best stadium in sports but that only happens against Alabama, maybe Florida or Auburn. 1-2 times per year max
Meh, all college teams play mostly shitty teams, even SEC. I’d say 3-4 times a year in normal years it’s pretty wild. My wife went there and I went to games every year from 93-06. I went to ULM

After being a season ticket holder for 31 years Orgeron and the rest of the experience has killed it for me. We missed 1 game in that time until this year vs Auburn. I’m never going back

Death Valley was over built and priced out the regular fans.
It’s a shell of what it was. It’s been going downhill since Miles sucked the life out of the offense around 2011…

Nope Miles killed it
Covid and Orgeron 2021 finished it off

Spot on George, like always
I’d like to see capacity reduced but the reality is that will leave even less seats for your regular Joe working 9-5 making $50K/year that wants to bring his son to a game. I’d rather have that baw than some scumbag exec from Entergy that doesn’t give a damn.

It’s a 4-6 LSU team, with a lame duck coach, missing half its roster, playing UL Monroe at 8 PM in November.
I agree with folks who say we over-expanded. But this is kind of a worst case scenario for attendance.

The “priced out” excuse is BS for games like this. Everyone could get in this game for under 10 dollars if they wanted to.

For what it’s worth I was at OU vs Iowa State today. Big Noon Kickoff Game. Pretty important game for OU and an experienced Iowa State Team. Lower bowl was like 90% packed and uppers about 35%. It was very sparse.
Not just an LSU problem.
Tiger Stadium still rocks when a game that needs it to is on the schedule.

Shrimpy (And Alleva who hired him) plus LSUAD sponsored PIM (
why) killed it.
It's an annoying NFL game now filled with Corporates, Corp Give A Ways, Cheesers and Residual Sidewalk Newbies from 2019; none of who GAS about LSU or LSU football.
It can be resurrected easily with the right HC in place and a few LSUAD policy changes. (So I'm not worried in the least)

Exactly. I went to UF, Auburn, and A&M. UF was as good as any game since in recent memory. Both A&M and Auburn were electric. No, its not USC in‘79, but it was as good as any place in the country in 2019.

Priced out excuse takes a back seat to shitty opponent, shitty product, and poor GameDay experience for rent-a-wins. But the reason tickets are as cheap as they were tonight is there are at least 20,000 too many seats to fill. Asking people to watch a 4-6 team against a 4-6 team from a little brother school is a hard sell.
When supply is great, demand won’t be as great. Even in the Auburn and Florida games of 2 years ago, the stadium wasn’t full. I was there for both of them. The place was loud and rocking and the fans were into it, but it was at least 5,000-10,000 short of capacity. There are too many seats.

It’s a lot of things mentioned her but the reality is the administration hasn’t given a damn about fans. Here’s my example:
I have a parking pass in a lot that empties south. I live in NE la and need to go north after the games if driving back. I had a guy who was parked in a 100 lot going north who wanted to switch passes. Call LSU to work out the transfer and was told they don’t do that.
I’ve been back to one game since.

It's not quite the same as the old days when you had drunk baws from places like Donaldsonville, Pumpkin Center and New Iberia yelling and sometimes cursing at the opposing players as they warmed up before the game.
Posted on 11/21/21 at 9:21 am to DmitriKaramazov
It all comes down to winning. In 2019 Tiger Stadium was rocking all year long. It’s mediocre/bad years when pricing and all the other factors create a dead and not enjoyable experience.

shite home OOC scheduling (all marquee games at "neutral" sites)
that's what did it for me. Pay for season tickets only to have to pay more for the best "home" game of the season.

No he did. Valid points but just two years ago that Florida game was one of the better atmosphere in tiger stadium. Those things were happening way before then
