All,

Some friends and I are visiting Baton Rouge for the first time for the UF/LSU game in October. Can you all provide some recommendations - things to do/see around campus, best restaurants, best places to grab a beer, tailgating spots, etc.?

Thanks and best of luck this season!

By the way, we're OU fans trying to attend one marquee game a year. We had this trip planned before the OU/SEC story broke, but I'm looking forward to visiting all the SEC venues soon.

Check out North Baton Rouge, it’s the cultural capital of the city…… but for real just walk around campus game day and you will have a great time. Hit up Chimes, Pastimes.

- Chimes, Parrain's
- Don't go down a street named after a President or State
- Go see Mike
- Don't leave at halftime

Are you a Florida fan? Or just picked that game because it’ll be a big on-campus day?

If you’re actually a UF fan, wear your school colors. Don’t worry about restaurants on game day because you’ll be offered food galore from LSU fans at various tailgates

Oh yea, plan to walk all day and don’t hover around a specific tailgate for too long. You will get shite for being an opposing fan, but it’s all in good fun and if you can dish it back out, even better.

Enjoy campus. Go see Mike in his cage before kickoff. Go and watch the band come down the hill (schedule will be posted closer to game time. It’s a great place to be, especially with the riff raft of a large LSU crowd for a big game. Just have a blast.

Drive to Lafayette. Easy trip and would be well worth it.

Tailgating: Is literally everywhere....things get pretty rowdy down Nicholson, some great spots in the more tree heavy areas of campus. that might be a day college game day comes to town. They've been setting up in the quad lately. Not much tailgating there...generally gets heavier as you fan out.
IMPORTANT: let people know it's your first visit to death valley and you will get drunker and more well fed than you ever have in your life...we love being hospitable like that.

Bars:
Chimes just off campus is a must.... huge beer selection and a rooftop that overlooks campus....great food too
Walk-ons...on Nicholson across from the baseball stadium....never been thee on gameday as I have a tailgate, but hear its rocking

Restaurants:
See above but also....when your hungover Sunday and looking to head out...get the juicy juicy from Raul's deli (few steps from the chimes) you're welcome

Watch the LSUsports.net schedule of tailgate events..... get to the stadium/victory hill to watch the team walk in and the band march down the hill, MIke the tiger is right there so visit him too. and get to your seat for pregame

Welcome, have a great time and

I can't wait to go back to Norman when LSU can finally play there.

Not a Florida fan. My group of friends has decided to find one big-time game every year to attend. UF/LSU was our pick for 2021.

Gotcha. Like a poster said earlier, tell people at tailgates that it’s your first time at LSU for a game day. You’ll get more beer and Cajun food than you’ll know what to do with.

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations!

I know it's hard to predict these things and won't know for sure until a week or so before, but do you all anticipate UF/LSU being a night game? Or would it likely be the SEC game of the week during the afternoon timeslot?

And If you want real Cajun food head west for a short drive to the 337 area code.

I am also an Oklahoma lawyer who will be attending the LSU/UF game. We have season tickets and a parking pass at the student union garage. We always go to The Chimes on Friday night for dinner. Saturday, we start at the Barnes and Noble (student bookstore)on campus since it's where we park, grab coffee/breakfast at Starbucks,--maybe some merch-- walk back to Chimes for drinks, then walk the tailgates through campus. Be sure to head by the Indian mounds. You'll be offered food and drink. We head down to the bottom of the hill (between the Stadium and PMAC) about 2 hours before kickoff to catch the team and band come down. Then sometimes we go to the TAF party in the PMAC. Post game there is Walk-ons, PastTime, and many other great places to grab food and bev.

OU is supposed to play at Tulane next Saturday. We're getting word of a hurricane that could be hitting around that time. I hope you all stay safe down there!

Also, I was at the '03 Sugar Bowl when LSU beat OU for the NC. That's still a rough one, almost 20 years later!

Looking at the rest of the SEC schedule that day I would say it is a pretty strong bet the LSU/UF game will be at 2:30pm. It looks like the best matchup of the day, by far. The only other potential for 2:30 is Ole Miss at Tennessee (Kiffin returning to UT factor), but I would be really surprised if it is not LSU/UF.

Good news: The game ending at around 6:30 pm will give you plenty of time to party after.

Bad news: You won't experience "Saturday night" in Tiger Stadium.

If you are looking for a night game, LSU/Auburn on 10/2 is a better bet.
