LSU not as high as I would have thought. Maybe I'm just a homer.

I had LSU at 8 ahead of Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Michigan but behind FSU, UGA, and the U.

Behind UGA? Why would that be?

If a coach wants job security dont coach in the SEC. I think the Big Ten has had the lowest coaching turnover in the last decade.

Is it any surprise that the top 3 on this list are from the three most populated states in the U.S.?

hard to argue against them, though. warm weather, great tradition, lots of local talent to recruit

I have LSU at #7. I mean Texas, Florida and USC are at the top IMO.

I'm really glad we are just in the discussion.

Oklahoma, Da U, FSU, GA, ND, and NEB are definately not better. The rest is up for debate. Alabama would not be in the top if it was not for Saban and their championship.

I put LSU at #5, behind Florida, USC, Texas and FSU. The consensus has us also behind Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

I think we are a better job than those four because of the amount of talent in Louisiana and that we do not have a direct in-state competitor for the talent.

No chance that a coach would pick ND over LSU. That's ancient thinking.

If you don't have Notre Dame number 1 you are a fool. I know they have sucked the past couple of years, but it is still the best coaching job there is. Notre Dame can match any other salary and they are nationaly telivised every Saturday. Also all you need is 9 wins andy you are a sure in for a BCS bowl.

Bama, UF, USC, Ohio St, and Michigan are pretty much toss up for 2-6. The remaining are toss up for 7-14.

Funny, I have LSU at the same spot, but I have Ohio State where you have FSU because of the protected recruiting, easy path to BCS and exposure.

ND:

You do realize that the each Big Ten school makes more from the Big Ten Network than Notre Dame does from NBC? Likewise with the SEC and CBS/ESPN?

Notre Dame as the best football destination is a 20-year old myth. The best teams from the SEC, Big11Ten, Big XII and Pac-10 are on national TV every week, just like Notre Dame. And, all the other schools have lessor academic requirements for entry and easier access to talented high schoolers.

i think LSU has to be top 5 because of in-state talent, no other in-state university to compete with, and facilities

From a financial standpoint is all over it. Look at the stability at these schools, the venue, the talent. Only USC may be debatable, given...

---
4. Ohio State
5. Alabama
6. LSU
7. Penn State

Not sure if all of these are interchangeable, or if you could change bama with USC. I'd agree the Florida and Texas jobs is simply better than the USC/bama job.

I'm not so sure about USC, who might belong in the second tier before Bama. A lot of this should hang on $$, venue, available talent, and I think LSU might not quite make top 5, but does belongs high in this tier. Perhaps OK should be a little higher.

8. Notre Dame
9. Oklahoma
10. Michigan

I think Notre Dame is a little high as Michigan is as well.

11. Miami
12. Nebraska
13. Florida State
14. Georgia

Florida State the best in this bunch.
