ranked way too high at this time, you have two QB's on that list that won national titles.

I actually love JD and what he did last year. That team needed a spark plug and no one can deny JD can scramble with the best of them. There were 3 or 4 games LSU could have easily lost without his feet and with that said his passing stats were actually good.

Do I see him picking apart defenses like Brady or Brees, NO but he can put LSU in a position to win alot of games.

Different teams, different seasons, different strength of schedules and hard to compare.

I hope at the end of this season that JD jumps to #1 or #2 without question or Nuss jumps in there and becomes 1 or 2

There were 22 starters on each of those teams. Were they the best at their position? In LSU history?

I did not know Jamarcus’ completion percentage was so high. I sorta remember Saban and coaches being so frustrated with him not reading the plays and hitting wide open receivers that there were times they were ready to bench him for Flynn.

This never happened

Jamarcus was VASTLY better than Flynn. If you want to see the difference, go look at the MSU game in 2006.

Flynn came in, in garbage time and was so bad they had to put JR back in. It was incredible.

Irrelevant. Team stat. In fact, Flynn and Mauck show the irrationality with overrating that team stat.

You put 2013 Mettenberger on 2003 or 2007 (or, hell, 2011) and we win a natty much more easily.

The question is how far you have to go down to not win with those teams. Like...Danny Etling? I could see him winning in 03, 07, and certainly 11.

Andrew Hatch wasn't a bad QB at all-- his actual play time at LSU was limited. The only significant game I remember him starting was a 24-17 win at South Carolina; he looked pretty good that evening.

I’m at a loss for words.

What's errant about saying "Andrew Hatch wasn't a bad QB at all?" He wasn't... he got very little playing time at LSU before getting hurt vs Georgia and never returning to the field.

He wasn't flashy but arguably he was at least as skilled, if not moreso, than several future LSU QB's who started multiple games.

Andrew Hatch-- 2008, LSU. Started 3 games (played in 6):

25 completions in 45 attempts, 282 yards. Two TDs, one INT

35 rushing attempts for 129 yards and two TDs. NO FUMBLES, 3.7 yard/ att avg.

Admittedly these are not Burrowesque numbers, but Hatch could have made a noise at LSU with more playing time.

I agree with Burrow and Bert Jones; Hodson is a special case-- he was as talented and accurate a passer as anyone, but had a tendency to make really bonehead decisions and snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. That late interception in 1987 v Ohio State rankles me to this very day -- there was no reason for him to throw a pass there in a 13-13 game with less than two minutes to go.
