Based on their play WHILE AT LSU.

Patrick Peterson
Morris Claiborne
TreDavious White
Donte Jackson
Greedy Williams
Kristian Fulton
Derek Stingley (only 1 season so far but was an AA so he counts)

God we had some great ones

You can honestly rank them in any order and wouldn't be wrong. I think Pat Pete and Tre White should be at the top for sure.

Donte Jackson wasn't the best corner while he was here so hes probably last out of all of those.

Fulton is underrated as frick.

Are you seriously missing Tyrann?

And don't claim him as a safety, you said while at LSU...

Peterson
Fulton
Claiborne
Corey Webster (snubbed leaving him off)
Greedy
Tre White
Donte

Stingley will be ranked once his career is complete. Same could be said for Fulton, but he's got more body of work.

I know Matthieu was not solely a CB at LSU. Played nickel and even some safety.

But if I could take any of them to play pure CB, I would take him over all of those guys

He was more of a hybrid S/CB. He would obviously be #1 but I am trying to rank pure cover CBs.

If I had to rank Stingley, he'd be above Greedy, but I'm holding off for now.

He wasn't really a true corner at LSU either, at least in 2011. I know when we played West Virginia, they gameplanned him as an outside linebacker (per a Bruce Feldman article around that time).

Mathieu had the best defensive season I've ever seen a player have. But he wasn't a corner the same way the other guys listed were.

By the way, Matthieu gave up exactly 1 touchdown pass over his two year career (to Adams from Ark I believe). Again, I know he rushed the passer a lot - but still - that is amazing!

Tyrann Mathieu played Corner at LSU. On the depth chart he was listed at corner.

C’mon. Matthieu was not a hybrid safety. He played exactly one game at safety. He was a hybrid CB/nickel, and played slot receivers a lot. Which also allowed him to blitz a lot (with Brandon Taylor coming up to cover the slot receiver).

I mean I consider NB to be a Hybrid S/CB. I just feel like Tyrann was too involved in the pass rush and in the run game to be fairly compared to those other guys who spent essentially all of their time on the outside (although White and Fulton played a little NB at LSU).

For those of you not wanting to rank Stingley, I completely understand.

BUT

Peterson had 7 interceptions his entire time here. Stingley has 6 and leads the SEC in pass breakups.

I think you could make an argument for Stingley having the best season by an LSU CB.

#1 if we are looking at complete career for me is Tre White. Dude played 4 years and took a starting role his Freshman year- great Tiger.

Can't go wrong with any of these. Donte is the defacto last place but still a baller.

Yea, I forgot about Corey as well. I would have him third. Dude was an absolute monster and his play in the 03' Championship Game was legendary.

He was a hybrid "nickel" - roughly 1/2 corner, 1/4 safety, 1/4 linebacker.

And he was 100% disruptive.

I was thinking the same thing. OP was probably born in 1994 and anything pre-2008 probably seems ancient to him.
