Nabers is quite close to being the best WR in LSU history. Not sure how many people recognize it.

Might want to consider BTJ11 in that conversation

Nabers doesn’t consistent go up and get the ball through contact like the other 2 could. probably the biggest difference.

I never once saw a DB manhandle Chase, or Jefferson, the way that FSU corner manhandled Nabers on that comeback route that was intercepted. And stop with the he slipped shite. He slipped because he was manhandled.

The proper move for the WR in that situation, in which he was running a comeback and realized that the DB was sitting on it, was to pivot clockwise, toward the sideline, step with the right foot across the defender’s body, then go back for the ball with the defender on your hip. No chance at an interception in that case.

Based on where they got or will get drafted, the OP is an accurate reflection of their college careers.

Chase 5th
Nabers 8-15ish
Jefferson 22nd

Hate to say it, but Thomas jr. should be looked at in the same regard. Dude has been lights out this year.

I agree BTJ has been awesome and glad he’s had his breakout season, but due to the fact he’s had a couple critical drops, including one that may have changed the outcome of the Florida state game, I don’t think he can be in the same category as these 3.

Physical gifts that a WR needs?

1. Chase
2. Nabors
3. Jefferson

Working hard at all the big and little things that make WRs great?

1. Jefferson
2. Nabors
3. Chase (not a knock on Chase, BTW)

Jefferson is the best route runner so he'll likely have the longest career.

They are all different. Jefferson is a nightmare in the short to intermediate routes because of his elite route running and quick twitch.

Chase is extremely strong and can beat anyone 1-on-1 because of his strength and ability to get off press. His contested catches and hand strength is the best of the 3. He also has the speed to consistently beat defenders on deep routes or after the catch.

Nabers is the fastest of the 3 and makes him a threat anytime he has the ball in his hands. He has been used in the slot a lot more this year and has improved on his route running and coverage recognition to find the holes in the zones. His usage in the slot has actually helped him to continue putting up numbers even with the defense focused on him. If he just lined up outside its easier to bracket the coverage and take him away.

Speed - Nabers
Short/intermediate route running - Jefferson
Strength/Physicality - Chase
Deep threat - Chase
After the Catch - Chase (hardest to choose)
Contested Catches - Chase
Versatility - Nabers
Coverage/Zone Recognition - Jefferson

I would rank them overall:

1. Chase
2. Jefferson
3. Nabers

But its so close and can make arguments for them to be in any order.

1. Chase because he’s the most physical and has great balls skills.
2. Jefferson because he’s the best route runner/ finding open spots and elite ball skills
3. Malik only because the other two are all time. Malik is probly the best with the ball in his hands/after catch.
