I've tried to scale back on my posting, so perhaps I forgot how much people on the internet like to argue about trivialities. Fact is, Jefferson played one of the worst games of an objectively subpar career that day. But QB play didn't lose that game. QB play wouldn't have won it. We were dominated in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The secondary made AJ Mcfricknuts look like a pretty good QB. Special teams didn't show up. Running suck. Coaching sucked. Play calling sucked. And the staff said frick it before the 3rd Q was over.

The game wasn't on Jefferson. He sucked badly enough throughout his career that most of you shouldn't have to revel in the fantasy that we would have won if only someone else played QB.

LSU's lack of a quality QB singlehandedly not only bombed the draft status of Randle but Byrd, Tolliver and Lafell as well. Lafell and Randle should have been locks in the first round. And Tolliver should have been at least picked.

1. Randle should have came back because I liked him as a player and I miss him already.

2. LaFell would probably thank JJ if he could, seeing as he is now on one of the best offensive teams in the NFL catching passes from the best Rookie Quarterback in NFL history.

I made a brief comment earlier, and then this thread turned into another BCSNG argument. I think that one thing about that game is obvious...

Tiger fans have a deep wound from that game and it will not go away for a long time.

I think it's not so much that it was that one game, or even just solely all aimed at Jefferson. I think it was the entire 2 year circus that was the Miles/Jefferson/Lee clusterfrick. Les Miles never saw what the entire college football world saw. And that is that BOTH quarterbacks had flaws, not just Lee. As for the total domination of Bama's defense in that game, it was as much LSU's fault as anything. LSU was super one-deminsional with Jefferson in the game. We could run the football and that was it. Jefferson was never a threat to beat Bama with a pass. His best attribute on Nov. 5th was that he scrambled from the rush. You can't enter a game hoping that your quarterback will scramble for first downs (not designed plays). Les Miles decision to keep the offense completely grounded led to the BCSNG debacle.

Lee went on to dominate at that post season college bowl.

Jefferson went on to be rated the 315th worst player at the NFL combine and the worst Quarterback to ever attend the combine.

Nothing else needs to be said. Les obviously had off the field reasons for not starting Lee that he felt didnt need to be public.

I don't like Jefferson.

Having said that, your argument is just wrong.

That rating was a pre-combine rating. And, given that Lee wasn't even invited to the combine...

You've just proven the exact opposite of what you wanted to prove.

Walter Football.com's comments on Randle:
quote:

8/19/11: Rueben Randle is hurt by having Jordan Jefferson as his quarterback. Last year, he was second on the team in receiving to Terrence Toliver. Randle had 33 receptions for 544 yards and three touchdowns. Randle showed his potential when he lit up Alabama's standout secondary to the tune of 125 yards on three catches with a touchdown. Randle is a good athlete with size and speed. It will be interesting to see if LSU gets him the ball enough for him to show his skills.

quote:

4/24/12: Some project Randle to be a candidate for late in the first round, but he is more likely to be a second-round pick.

Randle had a disappointing Combine. His 40 was slower than expected and his jumps showed a lack of explosion. Based on this performance, many that previously rated him as a first-rounder dropped him into round two. Randle played well for LSU in 2011 and was the Tigers' top receiving target. He did not get a huge amount of opportunities, but generally produced when thrown the ball. Randle is a very good red-zone weapon who uses his size and quickness to produce points. For the season, he hauled in 53 receptions for 917 yards and eight touchdowns.

Hurting Randle's draft stock was being shut down by Alabama and its NFL-talent-laden secondary twice. He had two catches for 19 yards in the first game and three for 13 yards in the rematch. Randle may struggle with getting separation against NFL cornerbacks. He excels at running slant routes in the short to intermediate part of the field, and that should have a big appeal to teams that run the West Coast offense.

Randle is also a quality blocker in the ground game. He looks like a possession receiver in the NFL, but his team shouldn't be surprised if he has a hard time getting open.

what a retard. one year, it's JJ's fault he had bad stats, but he lit up Bama to show his potential. The next year, Bama shuts him down and he is a possession WR who can't get open. And, they forget all about JJ still being the QB.

Can't help but feel JJ cost Randle some money. I'd have loved to seen Randle with a real QB his senior year.

This is my opinion as well. JJ and Les Miles who was stuck on the worse QB in the SEC. RR may have been better off to have played another year since fortunately JJ is finally out.

LSU had a real QB, but Miles didn't play him. RR got shafted, the team got shafted, the fans got shafted, La got shafted, and everyone watching the MNC got shafted because Miles refused to play the best QB on the team. I can only hope Miles learned his lesson.

I agree with nearly all of this, but the icing on the cake is JJ throwing Miles under the bus after the NC game.

IMO, Miles should have played JL, Mett and JJ in that rotation. Mett would have been in better position to excel this year.

Still too early to descide if Randle made a mistake.

Good descion to go NFL - drafted at No. 36 by Denver.
(or 33/39 to Rams, or 40 to Carolina)

Bad descion to go NFL - No. 37 to Cleveland
(or 38 to Jacksonville, or 41 to Buffalo, or 42 to Miami)

Randle is walking through a NLF mine field.

I think this idea is seriously oversold.

Byrd?? Seriously?? How many games did he play with JJ at the helm as opposed to Flynn/Lee/Hatch?

What has Toliver done to prove he should have been picked? He's a solid practice squad guy so far.

Lafell went in the second round and is a solid 2/3 receiver in the league. #1 receivers go in round one. I love JoJo but he's currently not a #1 receiver yet.

JJ was a craptastic failure at LSU, but how many things can you blame him for honestly? TTs suckage is 100% on him and Byrd played like 2 games with JJ. Lafell is fine.

Quality receivers will shine regardless of who is throwing to them.

I tend to agree.

People are Star Gazers. R.R. came in as the #1 wr out of h.s. he is/was a very good wr. However, I never saw the fire in him to be great. I never saw him aggressively take the ball away from someone for a catch. I never saw him make a great acrobatic catch.

r.r.'s highlights are when the ball has been thrown perfectly. J.J.'s best throw in his career against bama, his second best throw against Au this year, and lee's great throw against AU this year.

he's a big fast kid. He just never showed that edge like blackmon shows. This ball is mine, i'm getting it, get out of my way bee och.

he would have been served well to come back with a better qb. oh well, whats done is done, now. it's all up to him here to forth.

This.

I really like RR and I'm going to miss him greatly, but the truth is that he's a level below guys like Blackmon and to a lesser extent Floyd IMO. I think his smoothness comes off as being relaxed sometimes.

When scouts look at RR, they see a kid with prototypical size, but also a 4.5 guy with decent hands and good blocking. Not really a game changer but a solid receiver. Nothing more nothing less.

FWIW, I think he's gone in the first half of the 2nd and he's going to be a good pro. It's not some grand injustice that he wasn't picked last night.

I didn't even get drafted and I was very sad on draft day, but now I am very rich and happy

signed,

Arian Foster

(it may be a little hurt for RR, but blaming the offense or JJ or whatever is insignficant vs his long term career in the NFL. If he can play, all of this talk won't matter)
