t I miss the days of old, when this was a proper rivalry

I was at LSU '56 - '60.

Ol Miss was the ONLY game we cared about - Nat's Championships were determined by someone's opinion - before the bowl games were even played.

Proud when it happened - but not an on-going thought process during the season.

Beat Ol Miss = successful season!!

NOW - Natty;s seem to be the only goal and Alabama represents the waiting ambush in our path - entirely different thought process.

My first season of going to games as a 13 yo was 1958. The rivalry with OM was THE matchup in the SEC.

Archie broke my heart by driving down the field to beat one of our best teams.

I agree with others who claim that Aub, Bama, and Fla are enough challenges. Let OM wish they were somebody.

Yeah - me too - but things were much more simple when "GO TO HELL OL MISS" was the only chant we had.

Has taken me quite a while for the thrill of facing Ol Miss to dwindle to just a forlorn memory

GO TO HELL OL MISS!!!!!

ahhhhhhhh - feel better now

Assuming this week is a given win is extremely foolish

I was an undergrad at Miss State back when the entire student body would chant “GO TO HELL OLE MISS!!!” After the opening prayer OF EVERY GAME, no matter who the opponent.

I still think that’s a proper way to end any prayer.
To know Ole Miss is to hate Ole Miss.

Understandable, since those thoughts are so rare.

Loving a rivalry is great for third party fans. But if you’re a homer, they suck. A rivalry needs minimum of a 2 to 1 win/loss. So loosing 1/3 or 2/3 of the time sucks.

Now one way rivalries like 8-1 LSU v A$M is fine, but it’s not really a rivalry where both teams dream of beating each other. And yes, for the A$M A1abama penis riders, LSU-A1abama has not been a rivalry either.

LSU’s Real SEC modern rivals are Florida, Auburn (fading a little), with Georgia in honorable mention.

The Tigers used to be rivals of Colonel Reb until he underwent gender reassignment surgery into Cindy Bear and/or Sally Shark (she’s so confused).

Tulane used to be our "rival." I guess you want to go back to that also.

Every time I think of Ole Miss rivalry, I think about Archie Manning playing football with a cast on his arm.

Nope. There’s nothing good about a strong Ole Miss. We already have Bama, Barn, UF and aTm.

LSU fans can not truly understand the hate for ole miss unless they’ve been to game in Oxford when the Rebels were highly ranked. Their fans are by far the worst when they think they have a chance at a championship.

Very few here are old enough to have had that experience.

Hell no, I hope we win by 50 and Joe goes 30 for 30 with 5 Touchdowns and 500 yards.

I am 48 and I feel the same way.

I think the "Go to hell Ole Miss" crowd is all in their 60's now...at the least.

I know a few people in their 70's who tell me that LSU and Tulane were huge rivals and really hated each other.

20 years from now there will undoubtedly be a batch of younguns who will wonder why the "old timers" hate Alabama so much.

I miss the Ole Miss and Tulane games.I have a lot of memories both good and bad associated with them. I met Archie Manning during the week of LSUs National Championship game with Oklahoma at a Sugar Bowl function. He was and is a very gracious person but I had to tell him he ripped out my heart after they won that game in 69 ( I was 12) He just laughed and said that was the consensus with Tiger fans
