If you heard coach O's comments it really sounds like he had some issues to get straightened out, that usually means grades or drugs.

So using your logic becoming someone who doesn't honor their word, since it's a sport must not affect keeping your word in other areas of life, yeah okay...

Except you're not their parent/guardian or counselor in life. You're just some college sports fan. That is all.

Are you saying it's okay for kids to give you their word when they commit here and then not honor that commitment, or quit on their team when things start getting tough??

They are given 1 year scholarships with the opportunity to roll over into multi year scholarships (maxing out at 5)

If a coach thinks the player sucks, he can process them after a year, or before a year

Why are we giving players a hard time for doing what they think is best for them?

For the record, Gilbert quitting before the season was a no-go for me.

Who said anything about these kids owing me anything fool?

They owe LSU and the coaching staff for giving them an opportunity to play football here. If they won't keep their word on a supposed commitment, then by all means don't give one. Very simple concept, and your immaturity and lack of intelligence to have a discussion on the issue is what the real embarrassment is.

We can send a kid packing just as quickly as they can say "respect my decision" and nobody has to respect a decision to be a quitter or not keep your word. I sure as hell won't, and nobody else will in the real world either.

It's a message board

Anyone can say anything (within TD guidelines) and not have repercussions. Not all of these people are LSU fans. Shocker, I know.

I don’t understand why constantly call 18yr olds “kids”. I think they should be accountable and help accountable. Now, I’m not on here calling them B’s and P’s, but as a former coach and former college athlete I sure as hell can think it!

He’s an 18 year old man, and most of the people calling him a pussy are also 18 year old men. Not sure what you think the average posting age is here but not everyone is 45

If an 18 year old young man who was the starting TE for LSU decides to transfer to a SEC rival in UF, I think fans have every right to criticize that decision.

Marietta, Ga to Gainesville, Fl is a 5 hour and 5 minute drive.

That's not close to home.

exactly. If "home sick" were truly the issue, UGA is 80 miles away from his home in Marietta, and Auburn is 107 miles.

Hell, Tuscaloosa is only a 3 hour drive from Marietta.

And here it is... the most overused line on TigerDroppings. Like clockwork.

Listen... when someone acts like they are mentally and emotionally weak, they are showing you the truth about themselves.

There's nothing wrong with anyone on this board pointing out that truth.

It is also true that it is okay to be upset over losing a player. From our point of view, he was given every opportunity to succeed here, and it wasn't good enough for him. Many in his place have succeeded here before, with less given to them.

Yeah, he doesn't "owe" me anything. So what? That statement is effectively meaningless.

It’s smack dab in the middle. It’s not as close as a 1-2 hour trip, but not what I could consider as far which would be 9-10 hour drive.

If I don’t have to get on a plane and can leave somewhere at 7:00am on a Saturday and be somewhere for lunch time. That isn’t that far of a drive.

for those who can't stand it, you have to figure as talented as the guy is, he has to be a little flaky. he'll have some good games at florida but they will probably only get one good season out of him. he's likely to play next year and then sit out a year waiting for the draft.

i hate to lose a player that talented but it is what it is.

nah... if they old enough to vote then they old enough to be called whatever when they clearly have no heart or spine.

I get that the frontal cortex is not fully developed, but these guys are soft.... 80 years ago 18 year old kids were going to fight the nazis and the Japanese. In fact there were kids younger than that trying to fake their birth in order to join the cause. Now kids get homesick
