Grayson Byrd SS - Son of former LSU great Paul Byrd. A prospect I see having quite a strong commit to LSU as well and is poised for a spectacular future. 6'3 190 build, great athlete who hits from the left side and can play anywhere on the infield. May get selected but will drop further than his talent due to sign-ability. If LSU is able to land Deichmann and Byrd then Bregman will be handing over the keys to two very polished infielders for years to come.
Damn I'm old.

Deichmann and Bain would be eligible as sophomores.

Aaron Nola Jr. RHP - Going to be a mid level first round pick. Will go anywhere from 8-20.
FWIW, Keith Law tweeted yesterday that the White Sox were looking at Nola hard at the SEC tourney - had some big guns down there (like the owner). They draft #3, although I realize his projections are later.

I believe he turns 21 within 45 days of the draft.

I think there is an outside chance that Nola goes to the Cubs at pick #4. Their front office is very vocal about wanting a college arm, and if Rodon doesn't fall to #4 (which he likely will not) that player just isn't there. Kyle Freeland also has a shot at going this high for the same reason.
With that said, the most likely scenario is the Cubs give in and draft the best prep player to fall to them (Aiken, Kolek, Jackson).
Long story short - the flurry of injuries to pitching prospects this year gives Nola an outside chance at going in the top 3-5 picks.

Oh God, please....NO, not my Cubbies.
Aaron deserves much better than that.

As another Cubs fan I agree.

Can this get a sticky until after the draft? I'm always looking for info on our signees during that time.

Tyler Moore Jr. 1B - Another player on the fringe that could be taken off the board in rounds 20-35. Will be interesting to see as reports are he'll sign if the offer is high enough.
If I remember correctly, in the last thread you did like this one, you indicated that Moore would not be drafted and he was listed as one of the juniors that would be back next year. I am sure that a couple of homers in the last 6 games have not influenced your opinion that much. Have you heard anything that changed your mind about his draft status? What changed?

It's peek.
I kid, great write up... You always bring it. Thanks!

I've heard rumblings that he will be signable as long as he doesn't fall beyond the cliff. Again this all depends on when and what team he falls to but if a team knows a kid will sign they'll grab him sooner than later.
Again, Moore and Laird are both players to watch. So many variables still in play on whether they sign/come back.

Rumblings from anywhere other than the rant?

True.

OK, but I don't think you answered my question. Why did you change Moore from a sure thing to come back next year to a guy who gets drafted in the 20+ round? What changed your opinion?

Yep. That certain someone said he'd be surprised if Moore went before the 30th round if I remember correctly.
