So Brian Kelly, Joe Sloan, and Mike Denbrock are incompetent now? Sloan and Denbrock are on the Nuss bus, it’s CBK that’s making the call to start JD

OK so you are claiming that Brian Kelly is incompetent. Gotcha just wanted to clarify.

Can someone please post the top 5 seasons by a qb, by passing and total yards

None of those statistics really matter because you can’t compare quarterbacks from different eras. It’s about the coach in the offense they run.

His production will be judged by one thing, and one thing only his ability to complete passes beyond 15 yards. If he cannot improve his passing in traffic, and beyond 15 to 20 yards it will be a very bad year for him. Teams will hold him in the pocket and force him to beat them with his arm, a.k.a. Johnny Manziel. This is not rocket science people. You can’t translate yards to wins for a quarterback if the game is played between the 20s.

It is almost as if you guys forgot about what a passing quarterback really looks like. Chunk plays are critically important to keep the defense out of the box. How are they going to manage to do that this season?

Howard transferred and is still a backup. That tells you something about his talent or where he currently is in his development.

Wasn't Kelly talking about Howard, when he said in the Rotary Club Meeting yesterday, that he had lost only one player to the Portal that he wanted to keep?
He must have a higher opinion of Howard than many "Ranters". ???

rationale has never made sense.

While I agree, his rationale was probably that he thought he could beat them out, but couldn't beat out JD or Nuss...and couldn't guarantee thst another transfer wouldn't come in here later on

Nuss will be gone and possibly be a first round pick after next season(2024 season morons) I believe in his abilities and his desire to be great. Nuss also made the correct decision in sitting out that bowl game. He did himself and this program a huge thing by sitting out. Is anyone still bitching about that correct decision?

What?

You’re saying he needed that 5th year of eligibility… so he could leave after 4 years?

Maybe not the comparison you should be trying to make. Only 1 team was ever really effective at keeping Manziel in the pocket AND keeping him from beating them with his arm.

Only one team at that point in time had the speed and was good at that game lest people forget Oregon and WVU teams that had to beat Chavis with the Mustang. More and more teams have a lot more complex defenses these days that can go 4-2-5 or 3-2-6 and still stop the run.
Also, Mike Evans made him look a hell of a lot better than he really was.

How dumb. Joe left Ohio St because, like Howard, he knew his clock was running and he was not going to be the starter. Brilliant move.

They arent comparable at all, Howard left as a freshman, his clock hasn’t even started ticking yet.. Burrow stayed and competed until he was a junior and even graduated. Bet walkers nuts out of your face, the guy was 3rd string here and is 3rd string there. Why even transfer?

How would he know he’s never gonna start here if he never even tried to compete? He asked to redshirt remember? Then left right after, it’s such a weird situation. Wouldn’t be surprised if he never amounts to anything. Just shows he has no drive in my opinion to give up so early.

So you are agreeing with him that your original comments don’t make sense?

Which comments would that be?

His comments stated that Nuss Rightly chose to sit out the bowl game after he leaves in 2024 so that he can leave right after.

If he leaves after the 2024 season as a redshirt junior rather than a true senior: Nuss sitting out the bowl game literally didn't meant shite.

My bad. I totally lost the trail of the debate and mixed up who made the original comment. I’m really not have a good night of posting. A lot of self-inflicted wounds. You were 100% correct in pointing out how he contradicted himself.

This is a lazy and low IQ counterpoint. Burrow was a junior and graduated. Howard was a freshman and is a panzy.

You trying to make a comparison between the 2 when there are none to make is just silly. Totally different situations.

If Howard had stuck it out and competed I wouldn’t be saying this at all. The dude asked to be redshirted as a freshman.. He didn’t even attempt to compete for the job. Seems like he expects it to just be handed to him..

Now he’s 3rd string at ole miss too.. seems to me like he just doesnt have “it”.

Why criticize Howard because he left. He knew he couldn't win the QB job in the near future if ever. Now, he went to Ole Miss and shortly thereafter Lane got another QB from the portal, so even Lane must not see excellence in him. So, you can criticize him for making the Ole Miss decision. Maybe he should have chosen a different school.

Unfortunately, every high-level program gets a QB (or two) every year, so the chance of starting may take years or may never happen.

He should have waited until he had developed more and was ready to start. He could have competed in the Spring at LSU at that, then transferred to a starter role somewhere else if he didn’t win out.

I was really hoping that Brennan could make some noise but am fired up with how things evolved and for JD and Nuss.
