Question: If Paul makes it to Omaha, would you CPM haters still want him fired/retired?

Legit question- Obviously this isn't the year that we all wanted. That being said, CPM has his club in a Super against a team that we should have beat in the regular season.

Let's say hypothetically he makes it to Omaha-

Tell me how you would justify firing him after making it to Omaha this year? Obviously Woodward would never fire him (like I've said plenty of times before)

He's retiring because he's lost interest in being a head coach he's not getting fired. If he goes to Omaha it would be a great ride out into sunset.

First: Why do you identify your questions as "Legit"? What is an illegitimate question?

Second: Yes, I want a new coach. A 12 game hot streak at the end of this year, while welcome, would not change the fact that CPM is not putting in the time and energy necessary.

No shite baw.

I'm saying- if he wasn't retiring because of that- if he didn't have health issues- what would have been the reason?

Yes, he's miserable. He is best served taking care of himself without the weight of LSU baseball on his shoulders. I would like to see him win it and get his due send off.

Fanbase expectations will always exceed real-world rationale. If CPM brought LSU to Omaha this year, and thus finished in the Top 10, realistically you couldn't justify him being fired. Fans may want it, but administration couldn't really justify it.

Yes. The team is performing well, but this is exceeding expectations quite significantly. There’s no excuse for an LSU baseball team to have a losing SEC record. It also wouldn’t erase the noticeable lack of player development over the last several seasons.

He’s a historic coach and I’m grateful and proud to have had him here, but it’s time to move on.

This basically delegitamizes the question. If he didn't have those issues then he would most likely have been a better coach this season and maybe last season as well.

Imagine your employer firing you for being one of the best baseball clubs in the world and saying

"Sorry you're old and stale"

yes, for the same reason UF doesn't want O'Sullivan fired for going 0-2

because what you do in the regular season says a lot more about you than one regional series.

No it doesn't ? He's currently a top 16 coach this year with all of his issues.

It would definitely help his legacy (though I think it's pretty secure already).

If we make it to Omaha this season, he will have ended his career with a final 6 seasons of 3 trips to Omaha, 2 Supers and 1 regional. Pretty damn good.
