For the amount of Italian influence that's in New Orleans it's kind of surprising how non-elite comparatively the pizza market is. Southerner's don't quite have the demand for it like northerner's I think. Similar with bagels and deli's.

OK, if you're coming to New Orleans for the championship game (assuming you get by Clemson), and you want pizza, I have two suggestions:

1) Pizza Delicious in the Bywater/Marigny (on the corner of Piety and Chartres). It's Brooklyn style pizza and is, indeed, delicious.

2) MidCity Pizza in Mid City. Get the Mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. Same type of Pizza, just not as large.

Both are really good pizza.

Weird question, but if you mean in NOLA, Pizza Domenica is the GOAT. Their garlic knots are also the best out there. Great beer on tap, too.

Deano’s in Lafayette

Always liked Deano’s, but actually prefer both Central Pizza downtown and Bread and Circus. They are both true brick oven Sicilian style pizzas.

Is pizza a big thing in LA? If so what are the best places in your opinion?

New Orleans use to have lots of neighborhood Italian Family restaurants, some of those had pizza. A few of those still exist post Katrina and even after many of those 2nd and 3rd generation descendants of Italian immigrants have moved out to River Parishes, North Shores. A few of those still around were featured on True South on the SEC Network (e.g., Mandinas and Liuzzas) but I haven't been to either in a few years and not sure Pizza is still on the menu at those 2 spots.

Really depends on what kind of pizza you want. But like others said, we are not known for pizza. But when I go back home, I usually visit Mo's but it's more of a nostalgia for me

It’s not

Always surprised me because there is a strong Italian/Sicilian population, especially around New Orleans. I think with the diversity in cultures, the foods all got blended in to perfection and pizza fell to the wayside.

thanks I would have never thought of a food and drink page being on a football site. And thanks for all of your recommendations. Yes we are thinking of coming down there for the NC and I have a small pizza shop I am trying to franchise and like to sample the competition. Maybe someday I will open one up in LA.

I am surprised there is no MOD or Blaze pizza build your own there. That is my specialty. If I ever make it down there you are all invited for a free one.
