Question for those in-the-know about WHoward

What can we hope to see when he finally gets his shot...next season or even the following?
I've never seen him play. Never seen film. What skillset does he bring that warrants his high recruiting ranking?
I guess the REAL question is...will it be a step up from the "one read, and run" of Daniels and the "sling it through a wall" of Nuss?

Natural leader and very strong and accurate arm. Very high football iq. Biggest challenge for him early will be adjusting to higher level schemes in game.

Best thing about the timing is that he'll be learning Denbrocks scheme along with everyone else.

Players calling a team only meeting to talk about trusting each other more tells me that it might not actually be scheme problem. Scheme cant make the players execute.

Good summary.
He moves better than people think, he can move. The IQ part is hard to overstate. Jamie has been drilling QB play into this kid from the time he could walk. He's grounded, so humble and a genuinely good person. People will follow him, he just needs a little time at this level to earn the trust.
He will win a NC at LSU, no doubt in my mind.

Him and Jack Bech will destroy opposing defenses like they did in HS together. Going to be fun to watch

He should have several passing options so I hope he doesn’t zero in on bech. Also, It’s not likely that bech will be his first read.
I think Walker is smart enough to figure out that he needs to keep his receivers happy

Strong accurate arm. Quick release and can run when he needs to. He's also accurate on the run which is a huge plus.
Overall a great kid as well. It's always yes sir/no sir and yes ma'am/no ma'am out of him.

Watched him in high school. Seems like the total package. I’m really lookin forward to seeing what he can do down the road.

I don’t think he will zone in. I’m just saying that they are best friends and have played ball together for a long time.

With our RPO offense we’ll HAVE to be able to run the ball when he’s our QB1. Yes he is sneaky good at running but by no means a “dual threat” qb

My only concern with him is is size. He's listed at 6'1, but I doubt he's actually 6'0 tall. Now, it's not a mandatory requirement that a QB be 6'2"+. But if you look at NFL QBs, very few are shorter than that. And the ones that are generally are elusive (Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, etc). Even a "short" QB like Bryce Young at Alabama is very elusive (though he is not necessarily considered a "running" QB). While Howard isn't a statue, I don't know if he is a guy you'd consider to be a "dual-threat" QB.
In the end though, I think the most important thing to make a good college QB is to have an OC who can design an offense and call plays to fit their strengths. 5 games in I'm still not sold on Denbrock being able to do that.

.
I've never seen him play, but according to his LSU Bio, he was rated as the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat high school QB by ESPN.

Saw him play Ruston his senior year. He was running for his life most of the night and showed some speed. Did not see that Burrowesque ability to throw off of different platforms or accuracy. Seemed to throw to spots more than openings. I think he can improve on this. Reportedly has the intangibles.

What was WH injury, and when did it occur? Mostly wondering is his recruiting rankings were based on play junior year, or if he was able to play a good bit his senior year?

You are comparing a high school senior to a 5th year senior college quarterback, he has time to improve.

Hopefully he hits a growth spurt. Idk how tall he is, but he looks tiny

So Howard can officially start the Arkansas game and not lose is red shirt.
Arkansas
UAB
aTm
Bowl game
And he gets to keep his RS if he plays in no games prior to Arkansas.
Is this correct?

I think he’s already played in one game.
