Pain is part of life. It is especially a part of being an athlete. The attitude that pain needs to be completely avoided or managed with chemicals is what contributed to the opioid crisis. This is a stupid argument for changing policy.

Yep sure have, got caught going more than that too.
Guess what I didnt't cry on a message board and try to make excuses. I paid my ticket and accepted my consequences and went on my way

If only LSU had a multi-million dollar training facility with the newest equipment and staff members with knowledge of the most up to date recovery techniques to help the players during the season.

Would let your kids smoke weed correct?
He probably smokes it with them. After all, it's completely safe and a panacea.

My question to you is would you let your 14-year-old son smoke weed to get rid of this headache?

Depends.
Would I let them sit around all day doing nothing but smoking pot just for the frick of it? Probably not.
Would I rather my kid be prescribed pot over many of the other drugs that are handed out to kids like they are candy? You bet I would

Yeah so is having a 1/4 oz of weed, a stolen handgun and bring high as a kite in a municipal park after midnight but apparently not for bama players

I've heard it from much older NFL guys, who've taken a pounding on the field for decades. But not from a college-aged football player. They literally haven't played enough for their body to start breaking down. Kids bounce back far, far faster than an older adult player.

(Hint: this doesn't have a single thing to do with Alabama)

It’s madness that synthetic heroin is okay, but smoking a little weed is taboo.

How do you prefer the guys handle the pains of playing football?
However the vast majority of players that don’t get kicked off teams for it do it.

quote:Another question: how does breaking the weed law compare to breaking the underaged drinking law? I can guess that the usual "but it's da rulz" crowd here would be outraged if Divinity were kicked off the team for having a beer.
Question for the it is against the rules crowd

yep. Got the speeding ticket to prove it.
I paid the ticket. I didn't whine about preferential treatment or expect to not be held accountable.
These men (and they are MEN, not kids) are free to make their own choices. But they have to live with the consequences.

Ibuprofen or some other way that doesn’t get them kicked off the team.

Safer for you than taking ibuprofen. FACT!
For a 14 year old? I would tell you about studies that indicate changes in brain chemistry for teenage pot smokers but I'm sure that wouldn't change your mind because of all the FACTS that you know.

Break the rules. Get caught. Pay the price. End of story.

Lmao! You think that he was smoking to ease the pain???? Bwahahahahaha!!!

I will answer your question if you answer one first...how do you administrate a program that discerns between players who really need it for pain and players who just want to smoke weed? Until you figure that out, unfortunately, the answer is, “it’s against the rules”. Unless they decide for it not to be banned, in which case, have fun being a coach and managing that.
