he punched another adult. its really a non productive conversation when you keep calling adults as kids and using that as a crutch.
Anyway, I asked ChatGPT, the beer aggressor should share liability for the chain of events.
can you throw a beer at someone and be responsible for when the person you threw a beer on then punched the wrong person?
Short answer: yes, you can still be held legally responsible—at least in part.
This falls under general principles of assault, negligence, and “proximate cause” (what harms are a foreseeable result of your actions).
How it’s typically analyzed
If you throw a beer at someone:
That act itself could be considered simple assault or battery (even if it seems minor).
You’ve provoked a confrontation.
If that person then:
Reacts emotionally and
Punches someone nearby (even the wrong person),
a court could ask: Was that reaction reasonably foreseeable?
Key issue: foreseeability
Courts don’t require you to predict the exact outcome—just that some kind of violent or aggressive reaction was predictable.
Throwing a drink at someone in public ? very foreseeable it escalates.
Them swinging at someone nearby ? could still be seen as a natural escalation, even if mistaken identity is involved.
Possible outcomes
Depending on the situation and state law (including in Louisiana):
You could share liability with the person who threw the punch.
The puncher is still primarily responsible for hitting the wrong person.
But your action may be seen as contributing to the chain of events.
When you might NOT be liable
You’re less likely to be held responsible if:
The reaction was extreme and totally unexpected (e.g., they left and came back with a weapon).
There was a clear break in the chain of events.
The punch was clearly independent and intentional misconduct unrelated to your act.
Bottom line
Throwing a beer at someone can absolutely open you up to civil liability (and possibly criminal charges) if it triggers a chain reaction—even if the wrong person ends up getting hit.
If you want, I can break down how Louisiana specifically tends to handle shared fault (“comparative fault”) in situations like this.
So IMO, its obvious the LSU guy is in trouble. What should be getting more posting attention is the initial aggressor the provoked the chain of events.

know how I know you are a giant pussy? You cant tell the difference between men and boys.
Also asking Chat gpt that... are you 12? you cant throw things at people.. that is assualt and battery in other states depending on verbiage. Anybody with half a fricking brain didn't have to search that.
You got your shite rocked irl I just know it.

you want to discuss at all the aggressor who threw a beer in his face from a few feet away instigating the attack?
Do you want to discuss the video of the LSU guy grabbing a kid by the throat? Would you consider that an aggressive move?

Some 50+ dudes rule Sonic and sit where they like.
Kids get lucky if its only pugilistic activity surprising those poor punks while running their trap.

The part people are leaving out is that security walked up to the guy that got punched first. Even security thought that was who threw it. The LSU fan got a drink thrown on him then punched the person that was being confronted by security for doing it. He didn't randomly pick that guy out of the crowd and lay him out

Are we really outraged that someone swung after getting a drink thrown at them?
If he hits the wrong person…
Yes.

Looked like he got what he deserved. Also, he wasn’t knocked out.

There’s a new video of Rocky choking a student. The video of the punch was the second time he was getting tossed from the UM student section.
Imagine that guy wearing red and blue acting like that in the LSU student section in fall of 2027. It would not turn out well for him would it?

Throwing a drink on someone is a class c assault. Why wasn’t the beer thrower charged?

At least two dumbasses in this thread that know nothing about assault offenses, I see.

I’ve been nine or 10 times to LSU miss games in Oxford. These people suck you people white lightning for these Ole Miss students and talking shite about this guy that punched him have no idea how it is there. I would encourage you to get your fricking car and drive to Oxford September 19 and see if for your own eyes make sure you wear an LSU hat or an LSU shirt where you can get the full experience frick them all I say I’m going with all my boys. We may be old, but when you put up with those shite from a bunch of Ole Miss retards

Was he under 18? If not, this is the dumbest shite spewed out over and over. He can go to war. The average age of a soldier in Vietnam was 19. If you’re 18 and in college, you’re no fricking kid.

Need to get over this. Many times the 20 yr old is physically superior to the 52 yr old. The issue here is the maturity or lack of it in this case.
