QB Battle Next Season

What's the chances we have a similar situation next season with your HC wanting one guy and your OC wanting another? It's common knowledge that Canada wants a dual threat QB, and if Narcisse is healthy and has any ability to throw the football I have to believe Canada would prefer him. On the other side, O seems to have a crush on Brennan (for good reason) and I see him preferring the traditional drop back pocket passer.
If both live up to the hype it's a good problem to have, and of course there's a chance we could see both I guess.

No chance. There's a clear reason Brennan was the backup and it wasn't because O has a crush on him.

They also decided very early on that Narcisse would take the redshirt and use this season to recover after two knee surgeries. I've never taken their making Brennan the backup as a sign that they prefer him over Narcisse.

How is it common knowledge Canada wants a dual threat?

I really think both will play. Canada will have packages for Narcisse. I know rotating QBs is not ideal, but I think we see Brennan starting with designated series and situations for Narcisse.

I don't get the thought process on Brennan being penciled in as the starter next year. If Narcisse can run and throw like everyone has said then he obviously gives us a better chance to win games. There are so many more options when a college qb can hurt another team with his legs.

Time will tell personally I don’t care who is the QB. Just win baby win an Al Davis quote but I will tell you this . To beat a Bama you need to be mobil , a rocket for an arm, and a cheat that’s what separates J Hurst plus he is a winner he never gives up.

Narcisse is now 3 years removed from playing any meaningful football. He has 2 reconstructed knees. It's not hard to understand that he is going to take time to develop.

Maybe common knowledge was the wrong terminology to use, but I would say given what's been said through the media and his actual actions calling plays on the field, it's pretty obvious Canada would prefer a QB that is a threat on the ground and through the air.

yet many other programs can throw in true freshman and hardly miss a beat and they air it out for 300 plus yards repeatedly.

I realize that but if he's completely healed we don't know what will happen next year. I think it's very telling that LSU was the only SEC school to offer Brennan though. Brennan may be a great qb but I do think he's being pumped up by our fan base out of pure desperation more so than ability.

I think the race is FAR from being settled.

I'll be curious to see how Brennan handles next years schedule. Very little cupcake games.

I certainly hope that there is a QB battle next year, that would mean that we have 2 good ones.
While Brennan runs the offense very well, he makes too many mistakes in reading coverage, which is why he isn't playing in these crucial games down the stretch.
While Narcisse has more upside, that doesn't mean he will reach it, most never do. We know he can run and throw, but until we know that he can read defenses and play within a system, then Brennan is the clear leader.
Brennan received much better coaching in HS, so he was much better prepared to play. Between needing his knees to heal and learning to play within a true system, it was very good that Narcisse was able to redshirt this year.

Whoever our QB is, I’d like us to be fearless in our usage of our QB. Run him as part of the offense like Etling ran against Tennessee. This offense screams out for QB mobility.

As of right now it looks like next years schedule is brutal, one of the toughest schedules we have had in a while. Opening up with Miami followed by Auburn two weeks later in Auburn. LSU has a chance to start the season off on a serious roll or the exact opposite.

Brennan was considered one of if not the best QB at the Elite 11. He did hold offers from Ole Miss, Kentucky and Vandy. He also had offers from OK St and Cal which are very good at evaluating QBs. I think the fact that he committed early cut down a lot of the offers.
Narcisse may be great, but I think he is considered raw just like Felipe Franks and Franks doesn't have reconstructed knees and has played football since 2015.
