I’m not sure the interim matters that much because the season is a loss regardless of who they say is the head coach. Ensminger would make the most sense and keep people coming to games if for no other reason than sharing that deep love of LSU with him I would think. People would be excited to support him.
Yes it does. It becomes an obvious character flaw.

But that's why it would be him, he'd do his duty to LSU, taping things together, trying to keep the roster from evaporating for the next man. And hand it off cleanly, without even a hint of "if I win a few games, maybe I have a chance...".
O was a bit cringe discussing the Florida loss as interim. It was all about him losing his shot at the job, not about the Tigers losing a shot at the Sugar. I know that's the reality of things for guys with ambition, but I'd have liked to see someone put at least a facade over it.
For Ensminger, it truly would be about making it through the season for the players. I think he'd give his all, and know he's walking away at the end. It would be a matter of pride to him, to pull things out of the fire.
You're not going to find a prospective next head coach as interim, not this year.

I find if it's being reported by a media source it usually passes the admin test. Those rumors you're talking about with Les came from lurkers with 12 posts in 8 years.
