Was he going to improve his slot by returning? Get bigger? Faster? Quicker?

So what changes that projection next year if he stays? He’ll still be a 2 down player who can’t pressure the QB so.....

As a fan I want them all to stay 4 years but that time is long gone. Internal recruiting is the next big thing and the Gumps already figured that out.

Potentially stupid question - has it been confirmed whether Shelvin has hired an agent yet?

I missed seeing him destroy the poor opposing upbacks on special teams.

On another note, anyone feel like the agents are swarming around the program again like sharks in the water? I know it's been a problem in the past.

Hope I'm wrong, but the guy may end up being a 400lb UDFA.

If he’s 400 LBs he’s fricked.

But I am Sure somewhere there is an agent who is fronting him money making his arse step on a scale.

The most logical answer is he's a kid who is no longer interested/able to continue college. So regardless of his projections, or draft slot, or anything he's taking his chance now

Exactly. He should have played this year, but........he probably will be much better off with day 3 money versus any other option an unmotivated student will have.
They know this. Problem is, he'll blow what he makes and be in the same situation 7 years from now.

Following this line of thinking, it would be better for him to have played this year and/or play next year, become more beloved by the fan base and if/when his NFL career falters, land a sweet job in state by an LSU alum looking to hire a former football player. Make those connections while you can.

FYI, Pro Football Focus came out with a mock today that had Shelvin going late second round (58). You never know what can happen with these things.

Correction: Pro Football Network did the mock.

No comment on his draft projections or current shape, but Shelvin was the most disruptive DL we had since Brockers.

I think he was athletic enough to play DT in a 4-man front. But whatever, I enjoyed his play on punt returns.

I'm convinced Pelini relayed he had no intention of really using our huge Dline guys

So O let Pelini run off 50% of the d-line?

The sad part is this kid clearly has talent, but he will just be another talented athlete that had no self discipline and no work ethic to take advantage of a great situation.

Very undisciplined kid I would guess he’s 400# now and will never step foot on a field again

Wrong defense for him he would have been pushed out like apka

I coached in a previous life as a non-faculty coach in Texas. It's still just blocking and tackling. If he was a NFL caliber NT, he could have played DT in a 4-3. This board has a way of over complicating football.

Any pre-combine projection is worthless
