Projections say Shelvin a day 3 pick at best! Who is advising this kid?

It's clear that Shelvin could have benefited from another year at LSU to improve his draft status drastically and help with our much-depleted DL. According to several NFL projections, Shelvin is a day three draft pick at best. The common opinion on Shelvin is he's basically a two-down player that takes up space and is no threat to pressuring the QB.

Who in their right mind is going to advise him to leave early for the draft? Don't feed me the story that he left because of Covid. We all know that is total BS! So, how much does a third day draftee make on average? I'm sure it's no where near Day 1 or 2 money. Sad story. Another example of a young man surrounding himself with people who tell him what he wants to hear, not what he needs to hear.

I hope he proves all the projections wrong and goes on to have a great NFL career, but he's not off to a good start!

The most logical answer is he's a kid who is no longer interested/able to continue college. So regardless of his projections, or draft slot, or anything he's taking his chance now

Hope I'm wrong, but the guy may end up being a 400lb UDFA.

None of these athletes opted out for fear of Covid

They saw an easy way out to get to the nfl and have the year off

I wouldn't be surprised either. Does anyone have any information on how he is doing now? I would love to know what his weight is now after a full season away from football.

When have kids like him ever succeeded after leaving early? He will be fat and out of shape entering training camp will likely be cut.

I'm convinced Pelini relayed he had no intention of really using our huge Dline guys like Shelvin, Ika and Guillory. Those were all recruited for the NT in 3-4, but still obviously could have easily been some of our best Dline guys this year (Shelvin and Ika specifically). I think Shelvin partially declared because he was told his role would diminish significantly. Ika got basically benched after the first few games so he transferred when he asked why he wasn't playing and Guillory got literally 1 goal line snap late in the season, got hurt and never saw him again either.

I bet Pelini had a big hand in chasing off the big NTs we have this year. I hope Guillory sticks around. Losing Ika was so mind-numbing stupid though. Shelvin may still have declared Pelini or not, but I know Pelini and probably what they told Shelvin he didn't like to hear it.

Quite a fall from being in the 20s overall on kipers big board. It's not based on anything off the field or weight wise. They havent started evaluating all that till after the season. Think people are just forgetting him

Neil Farrell looked big and slow, and he was playing and working out with the team. Does anyone think Tyler had the discipline to keep himself in the kind of shape he needs to be in?

Exactly. He should have played this year, but........he probably will be much better off with day 3 money versus any other option an unmotivated student will have.
They know this. Problem is, he'll blow what he makes and be in the same situation 7 years from now.

This kid has always had trouble being disciplined. He saw an easy out and took it. No Moffitt on your arse, no quarantine in a dorm for 4 months, no dieting etc

I'd love to know anyone that is in the know with Shelvin. I'll go out on a limp here and say he is north of 400! He'll never make it in the NFL.

Its that type decision making that results in bankruptcy three years after their last multi million dollar payday.
It doesn't make much difference where he is drafted if he follows his instincts rather than sound judgement.

Yeah its always someone else's fault.
Whose fault was it that he came to campus out of shape, came to faul practice out of shape. Was it his mother's, strength coach, or head coach.
