Lsu has been fantastic at steals all season and has been a terror in the paint defensively the last 3 weeks. Lsu has been great at help defense getting a hand in to create a turnover or at least disrupt. I think that's the key against Dickinson. Don't try to beat him in size. Get to him before it's a factor and it's something lsu has done well against the last several opponents.

Unfortunately for mich, lsu's weakness, transition defense, is not a strength for them, transition offense.

The perimeter is the biggest problem for mich. Lsu is fast, long wingspan and versatile. I just don’t see them beating the tiger guards 1 on 1 on either end. That opens up everything for Watford and days.

Lsu is playing at a higher gear lately and I'm not sure how many teams can match that given lsu's caliber of player. Javonte was occasionally sloppy earlier in the season but has noticeably improved as a point guard.

I mentioned in the other thread that mich and osu were roughly equal in their last 2 games and osu is definitely not a better team than lsu.

Yea, not even a little. If LSU makes 12 3-pointers we might give the Big Ten their worst beatdown. It’s about defense and getting fouls against Mich

We make our threes and we win. Simple as that. We don't, and we have to hope they play bad at times too.

That's not what you said. You said LSU needs to make 12 3s on 25 attempt to win. That's simply not true.

I think this game is going to come down to Watford vs. Dickerson early on. Watford needs to hit a couple 12-15 footers to open the game and draw Dickerson out from the basket. Once Watford can pull him away from the basket Watford should be able to take him on the dribble.

On the other end, Watford needs to play disciplined defense and not foul. I imagine we are going to have to double Dickerson if he gets it on the block and force Michigan to make some 3s.

Yeah ok. Watch the 3 point stat on almost all of these upsets so far in the tourney. Yes playing good defense is a given but the college game has become a 3 pt and ft shooting contest with the way the game is called.

You're acting like LSU is a SWAC team.

I also feel like you haven't watched the tournament.

Let's look at some games:

Oral Roberts beats OSU and makes 11 3's...they were 11 for 35
Oral Roberts beats UF and makes 10 3's...they were 10 for 30

In one game they shot 33% and the other 31%...those are not very good averages and normally you don't win shooting that amount of volume.

Abilene Christian shoots 3 of 18 from 3 and beats Texas

North Texas shoots 9 or 21 from 3, but shoots 42%

Ohio was 7 of 23 for 30.4%

Loyola Chicago was 4 for 10 from 3 against Illinois

Oregon State was 6 for 20 against Oklahoma State

So again

No. People play their own game. LSU is a decent 3 point shooting team, but it's about defense, offensive rebounds, and sharing the ball. If LSU can shoot a decent percentage the "amount" of makes don't matter at all. You're literally saying LSU HAS to shoot 50% from 3

Do you realize how asinine that is?

I want LSU to win... but as aggressive as we are don’t be surprised that we are in foul trouble..... as sad as it is to say, the refs know that Michigan is without a key member to its team... LSU will play hard but ............. early rebounding and staying out of foul trouble I can See LSU winning this game.... Smart HAS to come out and play better than he did the other day.... and if Hyatt can match what he did , we will be in fine shape... bottom line is that LSU has a more athletic roster than Michigan.... can they exploit it.......

Anyone worried about our shooting playing in Lucas Oil
Sometimes it's different playing in those big stadiums
Michigan already has a game under their belt there
Did LSU get any practice time or shootaround in that venue?

Is that all? Then you may as well not watch the game. That is a tremendous ask. But if LSU does that they likely win by 15+

For reference they went 11/22 vs Auburn (their highest % in SEC play) and won by 24 (104-80)

GREAT start! We came to play boys! Wish that last shot had gone down though. Where's the foul?
