Win tonight and all of the sudden LSU basketball becomes a big deal around town and the PMAC is rocking the rest of the season.
All it takes is 1 loss after a win tonight, and the “fans” start to not care again. I’ve just come to accept it at this point.

I feel the same way. As disappointed as I was with the Auburn loss the fact that they came back twice from large deficits shows the character of this team and not having Murray was a huge factor in the outcome of that game. He is our most physical guard and one of our best scorers. Could have been a different outcome. I think we match up well with Kentucky and the fact that they are not a great 3 point shooting team strengthens that position. look for LSU to pull away late in a very physical game.

I’ll never agree that the 2nd game of the SEC is a must win. Especially if we don’t have a healthy Murray on the floor. LSU’s start to SEC is insane and it was always going to be difficult. There are too many overreactions for each game win or lose, and the season is long. We could lose tonight and still go 13-5 or 12-6 and have a top 20 NET easily.
No one is denying that. But winning games on the road, even against average teams, is difficult. So losing a game at home, even against a very good opponent, is a missed opportunity. Many, myself included, felt going 4-3 in the first 7 games would be a reasonable goal. Losing on the road to a good Auburn team doesn't lessen the chances of reaching that goal. Losing one of your three HOME games during that stretch does because it means you would have to "get that game back" by winning 2 of 3 at Tennessee, Alabama and/or Florida. That is a difficult task.
It is not a "must win" relative to trying to reach the NCAAT. But if you assume winning on the road is going to be tough (and it always is) then you can't afford to drop many home games. Especially considering that you have already lost to Auburn and still have to play AT Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and Kentucky. You can still get to 13-5 or 12-6 even if you lose tonight. But you make the path to get there MUCH tougher if you are dropping home games. That's just the nature of college basketball.

Look this team is more than likely an NCAA tournament team even at their worse. But if we really want to make some noise this year seeding is the crucial part. This week is huge for seeding purposes.
Tenn and Kentucky should both be top 6/5 seeds in the tournament. You split the series with both of them will show we at minimum belong in that category.

Psyched for my first game in the PMAC this year. Based on your breakdown of Kentucky’s starters sounds like it’s going to be a tough physical matchup for us. Gonna be a blast, plus it’s Kentucky so...

That’s why I said IT COULD start to unravel the season. Goodness man. Don’t let a loss unravel the season. I never said the wheels would be falling off. But go ahead tell me “what’s wrong with me”

Ole sensitive Sally over here. If you think our basketball coach is going to let a loss to a top 15 team at home unravel the season then you deserve whatever is said.

Hope the offense can at least muster 40% from the field I think with that we win by 5-7 points
