He had to be lost going for it on his own 20ish yd line. He had 2:45 to go and 3 time outs. Punt the ball. Bad decision.

they were down by 6. And it wasnt a bad decision

Very high risk spot to do it. Ok State not likely to run their whole offense, and they had been having trouble holding on to the ball. I woulda put it in the hands of the defense there, I mean 4th and 7 and if you don't make, an easy FG ends it. Rookie move for sure.

Notre Dame was missing leadership today. I’d be very worried if I gave a shite about Notre Dame[quote]

Yep

Knee jerk hire

They were caught by surprise

And the AD tried to act like it was no big deal

They will regress substantially for several years

They might have to rethink academic requirements

But frick them

Was Marcus Freeman calling plays or just relaying them?

Didn't look like either. Actually he looked lost on the sidelines. Deer in the headlights look.

Well, I kind of hate it too, considering the teams involved.

So, there's that.

That’s shocking seeing as how he has NEVER been a head coach.

Freeman honestly looked kind of lost and overwhelmed on the sideline.

He absolutely did.

ETA: To be fair, it is a bit harsh to judge a guy after his initial game as HC. A game that happens to be in the fricking Rose Bowl as Head Coach of Notre Dame.

What the hell were they thinking? There are absolutely bound to be some growing pains........

ND will have a rough time the next few years.

What media are you referring to? Breitbart? ?? Because I’ve never seen anything even similar to that.

Freeman has never been a head coach, and it showed today. Notre Dame may have hired a coach that needs to cut his teeth there, and it’s probably not what they bargained for. They seemed to have overlooked all the HC experience and success Kelly had at 4 different schools.

He may be a really good HC one day, but ND isn’t a place for a first time head coach. We saw first hand what happens this season with first time play callers.

Its interesting that these teams (OU, ND) went to defensive minded coaches. It will pay off in the long term.
