Ole Miss has some star players returning in Chambliss and Lacy but who knows how Golding will do as HC. They will probably still be pretty good as long as Chambliss is QB, but I don’t see Golding holding the program to their current level moving forward.

Right in the middle, I'll take it.

Who are they starting at QB? The way they acted during the whole Sorsby debacle, you'd think they were going to have to start a walk on.

12 seems kind of high even if they have an easy schedule.

Literally every other prognostication source I’ve seen whether it be a magazine, online, YouTube folks, whatever, have had us in the 8-10 range. This is disappointing.

It is a bit surprising.

Many will say it is because LSU has so many new players. But then you look at the teams ahead of LSU

Texas Tech lost multiple key players from last year's team. While they do have a top 10 portal class there is one GLARING question mark on their team? Anyone want to take a bet on what that is?

Alabama should have a pretty good defense, but they return almost no production on the offensive side. They only had two players make the preseason All SEC team (across all 3 teams) on the offensive side. And unlike everyone else ahead of them who either has a proven returning starter at QB or brought in a transfer with some history of success, Alabama is going with inexperienced in-house guys at QB.

Oklahoma returns quite a bit, but is there a lot of trust Venables does much with it? They obviously had enough moments last season to reach the CFP, but they played in a lot of close games that could have very easily gone the other way. Does the coin flip in their favor again this season? The SEC media picked OU 7th in the league. The coaches' poll has them 4th

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter where LSU is picked to start the season. But I do think you're seeing a little bit of personal bias against Kiffin here. Meaning that in a close call (which teams 8-13 probably are) the tendency is to lean against Kiffin out of personal dislike. Becuase even if you think LSU has to "prove it" because of so many new players (particularly on offense), I'd ask which coach besides maybe Cignetti has been better at largely turning the roster over from year to year yet continuing to produce? Ole Miss had the 5th most players of any school taken in the 2025 draft...including 5 in the first 100 picks. All Kiffin did reload in the portal and have a BETTER season the following year, led by a QB who had never taken a D-1 snap.

Lost Klein as OC too and promoted Wiggins from within. Will he be a good OC? We’ll find out
Marcel Reed say it don't matter. He still gonna run wild against LSU.

Hopefully either Lane or Chris (Co-DC & LB Coach) can scheme a defense that can stop a running quarterback because Blake hasn't been able to do it yet.

MR be Just try. Just go ahead and try. (To stay out of my Way; like the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz) LSU gonna be worn out after Ole Miss and I'm going to hit the Tigers up fo bout 150 again.

Critically important that WW be 100% healthy for Ole Miss and A&M. Who is his backup that knows the reads and assignments (Gap Control) to stop it from happening again?

What coach is actually watching every one of these teams play while also preparing all week for their own game? Lol

Dumbest poll in CFB

I feel like #13 is the ranking where LSU was mostly placed at in the 2014-2018 seasons

They don’t know what the hell LSU is capable of, but know there is talent

No poll should be released until 3 games into the season. Nothing is a bigger waste of time than debating a preseason poll.

Are you fricking stupid? You really think most coaches are actually casting these votes?

That’ll never happen

It’s not a problem unless you actually buy stock in that the rankings even matter

Tell me why it's called the "coaches poll" then?

The FBS Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at FBS schools.

But if your claim is its not made by the coaches then this is a fraudulent poll. Meaningless. Which makes it the dumbest poll in sports

Then they should get rid of it. It's pointless.

Who actually makes an argument using the coaches poll as their source?
