Ask Frank Solich or Larry Coker or Ron Zook.
Solich - Didn't win NC
Ron Zook - didnt win NC
Coker - Won NC but lost control and decline in record
Miles has an NC and no matter, in how many ways you point out the frustrating play on the field - the record book shows improvement from 7-5 to 9-3 and peach bowl to Capital bowl (incidentally less bowl money to more bowl money).
BTW I feel that the Solich firing might have been justified had they only a proper coach waiting to take over, seamlessly, instead of going with Callahan and his Weapons of Cornhusker Destruction.

A NC is not an indicator of future success.
ITS ALL ABOUT THE PROCESS!
ITS ALL ABOUT THE PROCESS!

Dude I can understand without the shouting. . I don't care if we have Miles or not - all I want is for us to keep winning, regardless of who the coach is.
Regarding the time left on the lease - think of it this way - this is the reward that the School is giving Miles for the NC.
The LSU administration is going to want to see some real bad losses in the range of 20 points a game / 5-6 losses / losses to Div -II teams / losing badly to OOC opponents - before they even think of searching for the contract and looking at it.
All the message board logic and cogent convincing arguments about processes, early warning signs, the dying canary in the coal mine don't work in the world of the LSU administration or maybe anywhere in the real world for that matter.

its does say something about the current success, right?
Comparing Les' tenure here to anything else is just stupid. Has he done a great job from all fronts? Hell, no. Is he as bad as some say? Hell no. I love how many scenarios have him going to Michigan after this year b/c Rich Rod falls on his rear end? How many major college programs hire a 55+ year old HC who has been 2 places prior to the hire that is a complete moron?
Its the quarterback play fellas. If we get consistent QB play, then we win some big games; otherwise, we will lose again. This year there will be no excuses about Ryan P. etc. tolerated. But hoping for destruction and predicting downfalls like Coker and DiNardo are completely off base + at this point in the year, how the heck is that helpful?

At the moment, I'm thinking 9-3. Losses to UNC, Florida, and Arkansas.
Posted on 1/25/10 at 8:33 am to Slinger16
11-1. Lose Arky or Florida. Lose in SEC Championship game. IMO.

Top end, if we get good QB play and Miles and GC coach like their jobs are on the line: 10-2.
I think that our o and D lines are just not that talented right now compared to 4 and 5 years ago therefore, I believe 10-2 to be the absolute ceiling for the 2010 Tigers, which in the SEC is not bad at all.
The floor would be 6-6. If they start out slow, the pressure will mount on Miles, GC, JJ etc. from the fanbase. I think this could have a negative effect on the season and it could snowball out of control. In this scenario, I don't know that Miles makes it to the Arkansas game.
I think this scenario is pretty unlikely. Improved QB play and better O-line play can cure a lot of evils. I think we will see both of those.
The likely scenario is probably 8-4 with losses to UF, AU, UA and either Arky or Miss State (the Miss State loss is bound to happen at some point - we have I think a 10 game win streak against them).

Prediction for 2010
UNC - Win
Vandy - Win
Miss St - Win
West Virginia - Win
Tennessee - Win
Florida - Loss
McNeese State - Win
Auburn - Loss
Alabama - Loss
UL-M - Win
Ole Miss - Win/Loss
Arkansas - Win/Loss
9-3 or 7-5...
IMO it depends on the Ole Miss game.
We win that one, we probably go 9-3, 2nd or 3rd in the West with a descent bowl appearance and we keep Miles for another year.
We lose it, and we'll probably lose to Arky go to a crappy bowl and change coaching staffs at the end of the year...

9-3. I'd say 10-2 if we had the usual No. Texas/ULL/Tulane/App. St. OOC schedule, but we don't.

If that weren't so rediculous it would be idiotic, and if it weren't so idiotic it would be funny. In all honesty though, that is really just sad!!!!
Why do you even post!
We will be very competitive next year and that is all that I know!!!!!

The problem is that at least six coaches turned Nebraska down because they were NUTs to fire Solich based on his record so they HAD to settle for Callahan and the destruction of the Cornhuskers!
Wrote a little song about it, like to hear it here it goes...

Give me a break. You must just hate LSU or have no clue how to judge football teams. UNC won't stay on the field with us. We will have an experienced QB next year and a better running game. 10-2 minimum. We beat Florida in the swamp, book it.
Posted on 1/25/10 at 3:18 pm to peopleschamp
probably 9-3 or 8-4, i can't decide. on the other hand, if the problems with the offensive line get fixed 10-2 and mabe a shot to win the west.

Yeah, heard that last year about Washington, how anything less than a 30 point win would be a disappointment.

book it.
We lose 4, maybe 5 if the breaks don't go our way.
Only way we lose only 2 or 3 is significantly better O-line play, better QB play, and a new revamped offensive philosophy, along with a better defensive line with some pressure and sacks... If you think Les Miles and Gary Crowton can whip up that kind of magic in six months I'd like some of what you are smoking.
