Why does everyone have Texas as the1.They have been getting worse the last month.
Posted on 5/18/25 at 1:54 pm to RGT
Most Quad 1 wins of any team in the country. Won the toughest league in the country by 2 games. Only lost 2 series all season.

Their RPI is like 2. They
And they finished 6th in the SEC. Kentucky was #2 RPI and #6 SEC in 2023 and they did not get a Top 8 seed. The committee only uses the RPI as one data point. There’s a chance the committee decides to give the SEC an unprecedented 6 Top 8 seeds, but I wouldn’t predict that. I think the give one spot to the ACC and one to the Big 10, for sure, then probably another to FSU, Oregon St, Clemson, or UCLA.

And Oregon st finished 0 in any conference with qualifications that cannot even be compared in toughness of competition. Florida st and Clemson resumes suck and have no pelts on the wall. #6 in the SEC is not some far separation from #2 this year. The only justification of not giving Auburn a top 8 seed it not wanting to give it to the SEC which is bad policy. It’s not like ACC has never been better than it is this year. Not the SECs fault all the other conferences mutilated their conferences for football. The best resumes are the best resumes. It would remain criminal to screw them.

They built so much equity to start the season. While I don’t agree they are the true number 1 team, I can see them being seeded number 1

D1 bases their predictions almost solely off of RPI, which is important and certainly used but the committee doesn’t value it as much as Kendall does.

The committee chair said this week he puts a lot of value on head-to-head and a little less on raw RPI
Pretty sure they value series wins as well more so than other metrics

I’m not disagreeing that the SEC SHOULD get 6 of the Top 8. A decent argument can be made that they should get 7 of the Top 8 spots. I just don’t expect the committee to go that route.

I know it’s not the same sport but the softball committee gave the SEC 7 of the top 8 this year. It’s not that far fetched to think we get 6.

The difference is that the softball committee has consistently given more weight to RPI than the baseball committee does. It’s certainly not far-fetched that they would give the SEC 6 of the Top 8. I just wouldn’t predict that until they show some inclination they are open to doing so.

If LSU wins the SEC tournament, they'll be the #1 overall seed

I hope you are right on this and the committee looks at our SEC regular season 3rd place finish with 7 SEC series wins

Oregon 4-0 against Oregon State too
___________
Baseball rankings are strange. People are debating on which of these 2 teams will get in. I don't know much about either. Just commenting on how strange rankings can get.

Fans don't want to hear it, but there are some objective negatives to LSU's resume relative to the other top 8 contenders.
LSU's SOS - 34. Among the current RPI top 8 only Oregon St. has a worse SOS (39)
LSU's non-conf. SOS - 221. Worst among the top 8.
LSU's road record: 8-8. Only Auburn (7-11) has a worse road record among the top 8
Q1 wins: 13. Fewer than Auburn, Vandy, Texas, Arkansas.
Head to Head: LSU was a combined 1-5 vs Texas and Auburn; 2-1 vs. Arkansas.
That doesn't necessarily mean LSU won't be a top 8 seed. But if you take the fan bias out of the evaluation and look at things from a pure numbers basis there are justifiable reasons to have LSU in the bottom half of the top 8.
