People who think this would be a bad hire are absolutely clueless.

This dude is always standing in our way or in someone else’s way at the most inconvenient time..he’s a battler..a proven, national title-toting workhorse at his job...I like those.

Give him our fans, the baseball state of Louisiana to recruit from, our national name brand recognition AND he’s already got the 411 in FL?!

Get your frickin season tickets already.

I don't necessarily think it would be a bad hire, Florida has always had a stellar pitching group however he seems to underperform given what he has at his disposal.

He wouldn't be my first choice.

My eyes are on Vitello. He's hungry, he's got passion, he gets his players fired up. I see more out of TN's players than I do with Florida.

But I'm not the one hiring the guy so who knows. I'd take Vitello over Sully.

You could say the same thing about any potential new hire, including Vitello, Sully or the guy from Texas Tech.

I do think Woodward has been working on this for a while. This didn't just drop today and he's scurrying to find a new coach.

LSU and Ole Miss series wasn’t competitive when O was there. Completely different.

Irrelevant. Florida is no more a “rival” than Ole Miss.

People will like Sully. He’s not the jerk many here assume

He’s super competitive, but not at all a jerk

Comparing Sullivan and O is dumb. O was never a threat at Ole Miss and was never successful. We didn’t play O in the national title game and have multiple important games against him.

I caught an in game they did with him during the second game of the tourney when they asked him if he found his rental car yet (apparently, he was walking around in the parking lot clicking the alarm on the key fob when the ESPN guys saw him), and he came off as a pretty cool guy as he laughed about it and thought it was funny.

I know it’s a small data set, but if he really was a jerk, then I don’t think they would have asked him about that on air.

O’Sullivan seems like the safer pick. His floor is very high. He won’t crash in burn here.

Someone like Vitello is less proven. What he has done in Tenn is impressive but is he a flash in the pan? He hasn’t produced at a high level for as long as O’Sullivan. However, being young and hungry his ceiling may be higher than O’Sullivan, and if he the next big thing we could see many many championships because a winning coach isn’t leaving LSU for another college school.

My popcorn is ready. This will be a fun search.

Well of course. It's the Rant gentlemen, most are the same people who were mortified we didn't hire Tom Herman. Part of the charm of this place is to get away from reality and read some entertaining dumb, crazy shite.

That is about as tired as the people who listened to the three cackling heads on here that repeatedly acted as if they were insiders and knew former players all hated mainieri when it’s obvious that they didn’t

BilJ, the comparisons of PM and Sully are pretty startling. Records and history are similar. Each have one natty, each have had teams in the past that have under performed. The Florida team that beat LSU in the CWS was not even the most or 2nd most talented team Sully has had at Florida.

I think Sully would be a very good hire, but I have a couple other preferences ahead of him.
