He plays OF, but he's probably going to have to cut some weight if he wants a shot a multiple positions at LSU.
He's got power, but Kale Fountain (6-5, 230lb third baseman) probably has the most raw power in this class of the kids that have a shot to make it to campus (i.e., not Konnor Griffin).

Also, 215 my arse. That kid is 240 minimum.
He's got some Dalton Hilliard thighs already.

My guess is he is probably closer to 5’11” and 225lbs. You know these kids fudge on their heights. Can he bulk up and play D-line, lol. Just kidding

Ah, that makes sense then.
Thank you for the info.

What position does that chunk play? By body type, I’ll assume 1B?
He played CF until Shivers came in. He played RF this season. He is actually faster and a better athlete than you think.

How the heck do kids that young develop swings like that?
And that young is a touch of a hot button

I expect multiple players to make significant improvement but we are just so wide open at so many spots we can’t depend on it like this year.

I just saw this on Twitter... FWIW
Another big transfer portal addition. Louisville SS Gavin Kilen (

) tweets he is jumping into the portal.
Kilen slashed .330/.361/.591 with nine homers and a 9.4% K-rate.
Kilen is the No. 17-ranked prospect in the 2025 Draft at

Consider these before thinking we dont have guys with power potential
- Neal hit 9 HRs in only 116 AB this season, if he had 279 AB like Tommy White got you could extrapolate that 9 HR out to 21-22. Also he WILL have competition for catcher next season, Blaise Priester is coming back from JUCO where he was really successful and if Cade Arrambide makes it to campus he is extremely legit. Perfect Game has him as the #12 high school recruit in the entire country, but draft boards have him much lower.
- Larson is a guy that will fill into his body over time here. No he wont be some 20+ HR guy, but he will unlock more power as he adds to that 6'2 frame. I dont buy he was anywhere close to his 194lb listed weight this season.
- Milam hit 8 HR all entirely in the 2nd half of the season, 4 of those came in the postseason alone. To say he unlocked something is an understatement. This kid will hit 10-15 homers next year if he's starting the whole year.
- Brown obviously has some potential if hes an every day guy, he hit 4 in 91 AB and will add to his frame
- Frey had 13 HRs his senior year of high school, keep in mind they play a lot less games in high school vs. college as well, he's got some pop, injury really set him back this season
- Jay will undoubedtly hit the portal for a power hitter or two, especially if we lose Jones on top of White

I'm not saying we don't have potential to hit home runs, but what you just laid out is like drawing a straight flush. None of these guys have done it for a full season. You can't just extrapolate and say he'll hit 22 fingers next year if he gets more at bats. Once teams figure you're a long ball threat, they will pitch you differently, and it becomes that much harder.
We were all counting on Kling to be the 5 tool guy, this year. It didn't happen.
Plus, none of the guys coming back have that crazy power that White, Jones, and Travinski have. Those guys can muscle it out to the opposite field or if the pitch is out of the zone.
We need at least a couple of guys who can get us 20+. Maybe Brown, Frey, or Neal can be one of those guys, and we can get another one out of the portal.

No, we don't. We had 1 guy (White) with 20+ HRs last year, and I'd say we did pretty damn well. We have several of guys that can hit 15-20 HRs and be legitimate power threats in the middle of the lineup.

.I see where C.A. is projected to be draft #113.
We can only hope he makes it to campus.

Think he'd like to play the middle infield with Monster? That might be up there with the all-time great combos at LSU.

One good thing losing Jay will Jump right in now and spend all his time getting the dudes here. I think we will bring in a monster portal class. LFG Jay, ur up coach

I think and hope Johnson invests big in the portal for a corner OF and 3B. He can go the Braswell route for a SS with a lean more towards defense than offense. Don’t know yet who the Montgomery will be in the upcoming portal but that should be the target.

No but we had Hayden Travinski hit 10 HR in in 23 starts.
and we had Beloso only start 49/71 games and hit 16 HR
and JJ started 47/71 games and hit 14 HR.
Beloso basically took Jones’s spot in the lineup late in the season and that slot in the lineup combines for 30 HR.
we had 8 players with 10+ HR and 4 with 15+ and Travinsky hit 10 on 104 at bats

Be careful.....Jax-Tiger doesn't like extrapolation. FWIW, I agree with you, but if you take that position then you also have to accept that Brady Neal, who hit 9 HRs in only 33 starts, is capable of hitting 20+ HRs in a full season.
