But here back in reality that is a waste of 5 calls. The guy doesn't want to come back to coach college basketball. If he did, he would have gone to Kentucky two years ago when they asked....and offered a much bigger bank than LSU would
Nothing t lose by asking, and a$king again. and a$king once more until he $ays ye$

He signed a multi-year contract extension less than a year ago and is getting paid more than $6M annually. UK would have happily paid beyond $6M given they are paying Pope $5M+...and he was their 7th choice. LSU is not going to offer $8M+...which is probably the minimum at which point Donovan would even pick up the phone.
Donovan has been in the NBA for over a decade. During that time he could have taken any number of jobs...including returning to Florida. The guy doesn't want to coach in CBB again.
Again....live in reality.

Cronin can coach but his personality makes BK look like Ghandi

I am definitely as some would call it, “In the Will Wade fanboy club”. He will be an option with the new President at LSU. However do not see him leaving NCSU after one year. A name I think is available though funds and an incredible NIL match up front would be Kelvin Sampson from Houston.Where there is smoke there is fire fits this one. Would he leave at his age and go to a program like LSU idk. He has talked in the past actually glowingly about the tradition and history of LSU basketball. Has many recruiting ties to Louisiana, which I know doesn’t mean as much in the transfer portal days but look up and down Houston’s roster the past 10 years find Louisiana ties. I think he is gettable, would LSU pay?

You're just trying to cause a war. Lol

Chris Beard has a base salary of $6M + a $4.5M buyout if he leaves. Even though I like Beard, LSU is not committing $10M+ to make that hire.
Correct

Like it or not, Wade will be a target and he will have the best resume of anyone LSU has even a remotely reasonable chance of hiring.

Beyond that, the mid-major ranks is likely where LSU's next HC will come from.
I wouldn't mind Billy Donovan at all, but I know that is probably a pipe dream. Otherwise, these three guys will probably be in high demand, but I would think LSU could nab one of these guys for a reasonable salary.
Josh Schertz - Saint Louis University
Jerrod Calhoun - Utah State
Eric Olen - New Mexico

The OP has terminal level WDS.

Sampson is off the table. He is too old to start over at a place like LSU. Feel like Houston would match whatever LSU would offer anyway with that Fertitta money

He also makes 4.5 mil a year before bonuses. He's gonna jump somewhere before UCLA cans him but doubt we'll be paying close to that much.

You might be surprised, just needs to be someone with better credentials than MM.

Matt Braeuer- current coach of SFA, I know many have not heard of this guy yet but I strongly suggest that yall check this guy out. Look at the all the coaches he’s been under and the current job he’s doing at Stephen F Austin. He’s the real, he actually reminds me a little bit of Will Wade.Forget all these regurgitated names, we’ll need to look towards the future and I really believe this guy is the next big one.

What smoke is there?
He's 70 years old. His son is the coach in waiting at Houston. His team is currently in line for a 2 seed. He's not dropping all of that to come coach LSU for 2-3 years. He's likely just trying to squeeze more money out to help smooth the road for his son when he takes over at UH.
It appears we are entering the fun time where LSU somehow simultaneously has not money to pay anyone, yet fans suggest LSU should go after every big name coach who has zero reason to leave his current job
Fans need to prepare themselves. It's either going to be Wade or a coach from a mid-major program.
Josh Schertz, Saint Louis and Jerrod Calhoun, Utah State will be the two big mid-major names.
Others to keep an eye on
Bryan Hodgson, South Florida - Former Alabama assistant under Oats and was one of the key recruiters. Had a good 2 year run at Arkansas State and has USF in line for a tournament bid in his first season there. Plays a similar style to Alabama
Eric Olen - New Mexico. Had a really good run at UC-San Diego building them into a D-1 program and has had a decent 1st season at a re-built New Mexico. Born and raised in Mobile.
Wildcard but would be fun for obvious reasons:
Luke Murray - UConn assistant coach. Probably not quite ready for the big jump...but he would generate some fan interest:
