How can KY be ranked well ahead of bama? Bama beat them like a top in the 2nd half. We tied them, which seems to count for nothing.

Polls are polls but the hypocrisy and the made up narrative will screw us this year.
Why do posters keep caring about the silly voter polls???

Those polls were important decades ago, but they're utterly meaningless in today's game.

We have a playoff to determine the national champion and the teams for the playoff are determined by the Playoff Selection Committee.

The voter polls are a relic from the past and are irrelevant. Ignore them all.

Because at the end of the day, and no matter what you say, it's a good generality to look at in how the playoff committee will rank things. Even if not exact.

Fans will say “just win out!” The fact is, we shouldn’t have to.
Two losses say otherwise. LSU absolutely controls its own fate, but every game from here out is a playoff game. Win out and we'll finish the season in the Top 5-6.

This is the Ole Miss “reparations” season. We just have to suck it up. When Chambliss goes, Ole Miss will disappear off the map. Mark my words

This is 100% correct. And to the extent there is any anti-LSU narrative associated with the reparations, CLK leaving Ole Miss and the circus surrounding that move is the driving force behind them. It wasn’t a popular move even though it broke no rules, and the SEC viewed it as hurting its chances for a National Championship. The reparations and “narrative” are a natural backlash attempt to discourage things like CLK’s move happening again in a similar fashion.

Clearly?!?!?

I agree but it’s definitely not clear. I can make an argument for everyone.

It’s a wild year.

Ask AI if lsu is clearly in the top 6

Take off the P&G glasses. We think so but it’s not clear

Yes, clearly the OP is correct. It isn't P&G glasses. The AP and coaches are biased. The Sagarin computer ranking is far and away less biased than the coachs' and AP polls, and it has us ranked 4th.

LINK

Our wins have been convincing, and our losses have been very close. We'll have a chance to prove the computer correct, but it would be a travesty if we don't make the CFP due to another loss, unless it is a not a close loss. If we lose convincingly, then I'll agree we don't deserve to get in, but our margin shouldn't be less than everyone else's. How we lost should matter, and tossup losses shouldn't be determinative of who gets to compete for the national championship.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Why on earth would anyone do this?
As to team ranking, AI can be described as an aggregation of opinion. What's a poll?

From Google's AI if asked "Is LSU clearly a top 6 team if we disregard the AP and coaches poll"

quote:

The "Top 6" Analytic Case

Mathematical models that focus purely on play-by-play efficiency, opponent adjustment, and roster talent view LSU as one of the elite teams in the country. They filter out the bad luck or variance of close losses to look at underlying strength:

• ESPN SP+ Rating: No. 4 (Ranks LSU behind only Ohio State, Georgia, and Notre Dame).

• BCFToys FEI (Efficiency Index): No. 5 (Highly values LSU's elite per-possession scoring efficiency).

• Vegas Power Ratings: No. 6 (Oddsmakers consistently favor LSU on a neutral field against teams ranked ahead of them in traditional polls).

The "Outside Top 6" Analytic Case

Conversely, mathematical systems that heavily weight earned resume, strength of record, and actual on-field results penalize LSU heavily for having two losses by late October:

• ESPN Strength of Record (SOR): No. 14 (Evaluates how difficult it would be for an average Top 25 team to achieve LSU's 6-2 record).

• KPI Rankings: No. 13 (A resume-tracking metric that evaluates the data of every single game's wins and losses).

• Colley Matrix: No. 16 (A pure, math-based formula that ignores margin of victory and focuses strictly on a team's record and who they beat/lost to).
