I thought the luxury seating options looked fantastic! Might as well just tear down and rebuild the PMAC, though.

Wade said donate to NIL right now, and not to facilities.

No shite. PMAC wasn't much better. I hated having to wade through all the solicitation for stupid living rooms seats or would you spend 5 grand to have Woody sing at your gender reveal questions, just to be able to tell them the food sucks and it takes 30 minutes to piss.

Shout out to the parking garage idea though. I'd pay all day for the convenience of that.

He's not wrong.

Three or four years ago having space-age beds in the locker room or a great weight room was a big selling point. Now, very few kids are going to turn down a $50k, $100k, $200k (or more) payday just to go to a school with a brand new arena or practice gym.

If the team is good the arena will fill up regardless of amenities (or lack thereof). Duke's gym is 80 years old and looks like a church. Allen Fieldhouse (Kansas) was opened in 1955. It doesn't have luxury suites. In fact, you could argue Ole Miss's arena is "nicer". But watch any Kansas and Ole Miss game and tell me which arena has better attendance.

We are in an age where it is essentially legal pay for play. Given how difficult it is to make an NBA roster and the relative lack of pay in the G-league and overseas, you may have college guys start to stay 1-2 years longer than they otherwise would simply because they can earn more in college than going undrafted if/when they leave too early. Money to pay the players will provide a better ROI than building a new arena that will stay half-full unless the team is winning.

Parking garage?

That is interesting.
Sounds like a potential nightmare to get out of though

Wade isn’t the only person that uses the PMAC doofus.

They looked good but I said the boxes, etc were not needed. I think they will not serve to increase attendee engagement in the games. My suggestions were changing seating configuration to get seats closer to the floor, moving students from behind the goal, and improving bathrooms and concessions. Basically- spend money doing things that will help the majority of attendees. Don’t focus only on amenities for those wishing to have a luxury experience. They aren’t going to add to the atmosphere and make the PMAC the most feared place for opposing teams to play in the SEC.

Survey was ok but I am disappointed they didn't go in more depth questions about general seating/moving students/capacity. It basically only focused on luxury seating.

moving students

The group who has been most vocal about moving the student section, the Balcony Bengals, has made it clear they really aren’t concerned about actually watching the game. They make sure they stand directly behind the goal for every game simply because the TV camera is right there. They could easily move over to the area closer to the visiting bench and have a perfect view of the game and actually have a much bigger affect in the other team. They choose not to.

LSU has a huge student section, but only the group directly behind the goal even gets rowdy. The rest cheer less than the season ticket holders.
