This facilities arms race shite has gotten to the point of absurdity.

A basketball game lasts TWO HOURS. Why does someone need a luxury box or a bunker suite or whatever that loge thing is? I mean other than to signal to the poor wretched fans in genpop that you are wealthy and special. It's just all so stupid.

Put 10,000 comfortable seats with decent legroom in there and forget all the elitist bullshite. It's college basketball.

That is what I said. I have zero interest in the corporate bullshite. Reduce capacity a tad, give me more space and better food and drink options. Oh yeah, non piss soaked bathrooms.

Because the people shelling out the cash for the luxury amenities are also the ones footing the bills for coaching buyouts, use of private planes, NIL deals, etc.

It's actually way more absurd that LSU has zero luxury seating in 2022.

Suites and luxury seating will also move people to (theoretically) move the students back to courtside seating

Yep. Which is also absurd. LSU is one of the only places in big time college basketball that when you're watching on TV and they're going on a run and the place is going nuts.... the main side view of the game shows all the old fricks sitting on their programs.

I am with you on this. I am for moving the students and fans' energy close to the court similar to what Auburn has done with their arena. I don't think moving to luxury boxes and suites for basketball is the right answer. But the reason for the upscale seating is more money coming into the program.

I was hoping they at least ask for our opinion on whether to renovate or build a new arena. Just going off the survey, it seems like a new arena is out of the cards.

You want to be able to use the facility for more than just that, though.

Doubt this has anything to do with the building.

Some of the pictures are the same from the football survey. I get the concept but they didn’t show how they would look inside the arena. I also would of liked to of seen a picture of general population seating configuration options.

Would people prefer teams to stay on side of court or go to one end allowing for more seats closer to the court?

My inputs:

It’s a two hour game. Luxury suites/boxes/Living Rooms are not needed and will only make the atmosphere less like the ‘Deaf Dome’

Better quality and varied concessions with quicker wait times.

Increase drink offerings and decrease the damn price. I’m not paying $9 for a Mich Ultra, but I might pay $12 for 2 Miller lights.

Better seats with more legroom instead of suites and move them closer to the floor.

The Tailgate Experience before and after the game that you have to pay between $50-$100 for and all of the elitist box bullshite is ridiculous.

They looked good but I said the boxes, etc were not needed. I think they will not serve to increase attendee engagement in the games. My suggestions were changing seating configuration to get seats closer to the floor, moving students from behind the goal, and improving bathrooms and concessions. Basically- spend money doing things that will help the majority of attendees. Don’t focus only on amenities for those wishing to have a luxury experience. They aren’t going to add to the atmosphere and make the PMAC the most feared place for opposing teams to play in the SEC

You lived up to your screen name with this. Good answer.

Based on the questions, it feels like they're interested in doing whatever it takes to squeeze as much revenue out of events as possible, not to optimize for a winning atmosphere and exciting experience. Unfortunately.

I’ve been to John Parker and it was packed to see Pete. I’ve been to the old Box and watched Pontiff, Cresse and crew play championship ball in front of a packed house. In old run down Tiger Stadium crazy Tiger fans helped take down #1 Florida.

The players drive the crowd.

Maybe, but if somebody is willing to pay for it then put it in.

My guess is that after the Luxury suites, bunker box and upgraded concession/restrooms are added (or some combination of the three) there will be room for 8,000-10,000 seats for the general public (all of which can be upgraded and made comfortable).

Then they can decide where to put the student section.

Luxury seating leases bring in tons of money. It's what mainly separates the programs that make money and the ones who just break even. It won't be for the majority of the fans, but if you want to start turning a profit in basketball it is a must.

Also - my biggest complaint with restrooms is that there is only one door per restroom in the PMAC. It makes for a logjam with people trying to enter and exit the same path. The traffic issues that this building has overall is the biggest red flag.

Doubt LSU cares about that. All those options just mean $$$$$, and thats all they care about.
