Agreed and WAY too early to be pulling the plug on this team. They have elite players at every position, and when it clicks… they will be a tough out. Casual baseball fans need to chill and try to enjoy the ride. There will be some rough games and some big wins, and the goal is to get better each day. Jay Johnson is a great coach and I trust he will fix these issues.

Hope so because A&M is likely a bottom 5 SEC Team so if LSU can’t take 2/3 from them at the Box this season could get away from them quickly.

Even great teams lose to bad teams in baseball. LSU isn't great yet, but can get there quickly. Must clean up the errors and stabilize pitching. Hits will come. With Money being available, they can still get 2/3 from the Aggies and regroup for next week.

The only thing I can blame on johnson right now is the defense.

I agree with this. It takes years to build bad habits, I don’t understand the logic of why people think it only takes months to fix those bad habits. Johnson will do great things here, but the change will be gradual.

The sad thing is, we are going to go through the same thing with Brian Kelly and football here in a few months.

Defense lost this game. This defense is almost completely the same players as it was last year.

Do you think the defense is better, the same or worse than last year?

Maybe you work on it by sitting some of the starters & put someone else on the field. Maybe you would get some of the guy's attention

I will say except for the ball that Gio missed in right, that he should not have left his feet for. The wind was terrible. I watched both A&M and LSU outfielders struggle bad. I sit in left and we were all talking about how much the ball was moving. Now the stuff in the infield that was terrible. It is like none of the infielders have the confidence to throw to first. Like they are seeing ghost.

HTF can a program like LSU NEVER seem to have more than 1 or 2 SEC caliber starting pitchers?

Good question, why don't you ask CPM?

I think they are the same, mediocre/middle of the road. They have a new coach that is doing new things, moving people around, and the guys are having what I see is a case of nerves. No one's job is assured or safe yet and some of them are trying a little too hard.

. Bad coaching on defense,

I don’t understand how you can coach defense once players reach this level. You either have the skills, hand eye coordination ,and judgment or you don’t. Hitting and pitching….yes that can be coached. But how do you coach defense?

Cannot imagine this team being higher than six or seven in SEC. Still gets in regional. Maybe they will develop.

Pitching is a big challenge.

Hitters not so dominant against SEC and power five competitors

Still optimistic

If we're lucky, and this is a big if, this team MIGHT go .500 in conference. And that would take huge improvements.
