they deferred serving their country four years. why not just join out of high school if they're that passionate?
Bad take. Someone sounds jealous of the pay difference. The military still needs academy/ROTC officers, even though mustangs will always be better.

that's what i mean. the people saying it feel better not the people serving.
all of this is pandering and service members don't care for it. a free bloomin onion on veterans days is nice though.

"What have they sacrificed"? Army's AD said that the football team, as an example, practices only 3 hrs a day. With getting up at 5:00 a.m. & an in-your-room curfew at 9:00 pm, their other 18 hrs are sleeping, classwork/studying. Their daily obstacle course work consists of hard physical labor, learning how to use a large variety of live weapons. You want to compare that typical day to the one of a college student's typical 24 hrs?

Players at any other big time program experience similar hours.

ah I gotcha. I thought you were saying it makes veterans feel better. The ones that do like hearing it are likely the pogues who didn't do a single thing besides wear a uniform to sit at a desk.

they probably tell people they couldnt be in the military because theyd punch a drill instructor.

The only people it makes feel better are the people saying it.
Painting the end zones, camo jerseys/hats, special uniforms, these are all things to make the people doing them like they have done something. Does anyone on the army sideline really look at that stuff and go "I feel so honored and respected." You really want to show respect include the price of their charter flight in the payment, provide top notch meal for them Friday and for the return flight. Something tangible goes a lot further than feelings.

yeah i've been seeing posts on facebook like
"free tickets to a veteran. the more disabled the veteran is the better. all i want in return is a photo so i can post it on facebook. make sure veteran is wearing a punisher tshirt"

This thread is peak TD

A bunch of civilians virtue-signaling to somebody who obviously served and is calling out the BS for what it is

And I just want to make one thing clear. I respect the frick out of these men and women when they're in the fleet. Not a fan of some of the leadership qualities at times, but that's due to their ring knocking and being junior officers. They're good people.

Good interview. He had some interesting stories. He was engaging. He had a sense of humor. And he genuinely seemed to like the look of the LSU endzones for the game - said he might steal the idea. Some of these guys are so wooden, but Buddie was enjoyable.

If you were around in the 60's I bet you would've spit on soldiers and called them Baby Killers!

Deep down you want them on that wall. You need them on that wall.

I have a feeling the West Point athletes aren’t at the local equivalent of Tigerland 1-3 nights a week taking shots.

It’s guys like you that exemplify what’s wrong with this country.

The complaining about the pandering has been far worse than the pandering.
