I'm not acting like its the worst thing since the holocaust, in my opinion. I'm simply taking a stance. To be honest, my issue is more with the way people on this board will switch their stance based on if it benefits them or not.
I can handle nuance. Better than most on this board. I understand the situation and why it is unique. I agree it is unique. Unfortunately, the downsides of allowing players who have been in NFL camps outweigh the benefits allotted to the players.
After typing this out, I think it's you that can't handle the nuance. It's not as simple as fair vs unfair. It's a deeper thought process, one of which you don't seem to have the capability to assess without being lazy.

I'm so tired of the lazy blanket "ex pro players" tome. What a tired argument. These aren't NFL vets. This is not some kind of slippery slope, this is a very specific instance to one particular cohort of players that had to leave college under a recently changed eligibility system. Times are different now. It is lazy and naive to think of the majority of players as for the love of the game amateurs, those days are over. Over 140 years or so ollege sports has gone from a pastime for students, to a way to get an education paid for to what I would suggest was a system that was very expoloitative of players labor capital for a number of years. Now the playing ground has been re-leveled to a degree like it or not. The five for five I think is a great reset for college sports, but I also think this class of players is deserving of some remedy under the rules. It is ridiculous to have 6 and 7 year players running around and crying over players either simply signing a contract or spending a few days or weeks in a camp or mini camp.
