For those of you who can't seem to grasp this -- this is the new normal in college athletics. LSU will lose players every year b/c of our high talent pool, but we will also GAIN a ton of great players from other schools. In most cases transfers IN will be far more impactful (in a positive way) than transfers OUT in a negative way. Starters aren't going to regularly leave LSU, but we will routinely receive starters IN, across all sports.

When you factor in NIL, player movement will be far more frequent in college than in the pros. If you can't accept it -- here's a warning for you -- find a new passion, b/c you won't enjoy college sports anymore.

Look at the baseball team... I'm sure we're so pumped that Tommy White decided to be a "traitor" to NC State, right? So... why the raging at Walker Howard?

Can't have it both ways, sorry folks. Or, you can... but it just won't make much sense.

EDIT: This new normal may also only last for 5 years until there are enough examples of "grass ain't always greener" --- we shall see! But in the short term, buckle up and embrace it.

They need to change this rule in the very near future to get a handle on this before it gets out of hand. Some may say it's already out of hand.

Coaches leave and take other jobs. Position coaches do too. And Coordinators as well.

Staffers leave for other jobs and sometimes it's a lateral move.

Kids are going to transfer out, and some are going to transfer in.

Everyone involved is trying to make decisions that are best for them.

I'm not worried about LSU Football right now. We're in a real good spot right now and we've got Brian Kelly and a good staff in place that will manage the roster as well as anyone.

I think we're headed to feeder programs.

Essentially the Ull's and ULM's will sign the majority of kids out of High School by offering immediate playing time and development

Whereas the LSU'S of the world will just cherry pick the best of the best 2 yrs down the road

I have to believe it will revert to some sort of norm at some point, once a lot of these kids realize they are doing little more than chasing their tails with much of this shite (both NIL and transfer portal related).

When Tommy White entered the portal and beforw we ever knew he would end up at LSU, I said it was ridiculous. He was a freshman on a solid team in a great baseball conference and that went to Omaha a year prior. I still feel that way but of course, as an LSU fan, I'm happy to have him because he's awesome and will help our team win. I'd also be pissed if I were an NC State fan, and they have every right to be pissed.

So... you're view is that a college athlete should never be able to switch schools? What about a regular ole student, can they? Or are they all just stuck where they are b/c they aren't a "professional"?

Not at all.
I was referring to you complaining about coaches leaving schools and taking other jobs for more money or whatever. Seems a lot of people are butt hurt over that for some reason.

Sorry, meant this reply to go to that other person talking about coaches.

these kids arent?

i dont understand why yall get so up in arms about the 3rd string qb leaving

like i get it if it was Boutte last year...if he would have left..thats a reason to be pissed.

but the 3rd string qb who left so he didnt have to just run scout team the whole time...who gives a shite??

we are set at qb the next 2-3 years...did some of yall think it was going to be some line up for the next decade of perfect successors and nobody would transfer out?

now i dont like they can transfer in conference but if a regular student can trasnfer, they should be able to also

remember they are students first yall like to say.

The size of a football team is significantly greater than any other sport, therefore -- the amount of transfers will be significantly greater.

With that said, yes this is the early surge -- it will likely even out in a few years once players realize they were better off staying put.

When was it not a complete shitshow? You’ve got multiple teams claiming the same national title, you’ve got the BCS, CFP committee selecting wrong teams, pay for play has always been around.

CFB has always been a mess but we love it and that’s why it’s never boring like the NFL can be.

Why shouldn't they? You only get one chance at a college career. Why waste it on the bench if you think you could play somewhere else?

For whatever it is, I don't like it. The team looks like a bunch of strangers. La. guys like Howard end up playing for our Sec rival.

ok fine...then they are students...regular students, even those on scholarship can transfer for any reason what so ever......why can students that happen to play sports do the same?

either they are proffesionals or they are students....cant be any other thing.
