So what did he say that he should be suspended for?

The players will get over, just like they always do. Make a good hire and they will be fine. Happens all the time.

then why not keep Peveto on staff?

he, somehow, was our best recruiter

I don't have the answer to that, but firing and hiring a head coach in midseason is not the norm, so atypical things were going to happen.

Perhaps Orgeron saw things behind the scenes that we were not privy to that made that a necessity.

Would be tough to suspend Guice but he needs to be talked to. Dude cannot keep his mouth shut to save his life. At least take his Twitter account away.

Dee is young and probably never had a great position coach. Hire one and he'll be fine.

Well, first he posted "if it's not one thing it's another", followed by the tweet about the coaches.

Players shouldn't be suspended by they should be talked to and punished in some way.

It just looks bad firing him the day after NSD.

We all think of fricked up stuff to say in response to something happening that we disagree with. All based on pure emotion. Some people even say it out loud as if they have no filter.

But with Twitter, it's too easy to type out something you probably shouldn't say and click submit, almost instantaneously.

I can't stand Twitter either. For that very reason. I don't want to read Guice saying something that you (and he) both know shouldn't be said. And especially don't blast it out for all the world to see.

There is no situation that you should ever publicly criticize and embarrass your boss.

sorry son, it's the way it works in the big leagues. these guys make a lot of money, much more than in corporate America for similar responsibilities. Craig will land on his feet with some 400,000 gig somewhere (or higher). since we don't know what he did (and frankly we shouldn't know), it's not right to throw stones. the only thing I feel certain about (don't know of course) is that Craig did something considered a firable offense. otherwise, Coach O would have just let him find another job.

look. You dont perform at (insert certain job function), you get fired. This isn't the pussified corporate world where you have to get written up and counseled 300 times before you can get terminated. These 2 were obviously not doing the job the way it was expected to be done. So....you get fired. thats how it works. nothing suspect about it. quit being pussies

Firing the coaches is not the issue. The timing is the issue. Now of course, we don't know what was/wasn't said to the players/recruits, but to the outside world it looks like O waited until the new recruits were signed then pulled the rug out from under them. I doubt the decision to fire Craig and reassign Juluke was made just in the last 24 hours or so. It looks as if O knew he was going to make some coaching changes and withheld that information from the recruits until they were signed and couldn't go to another school.

It's a bad look if you are trying to establish trust with future recruits. You don't think coaches competing with LSU for recruits aren't going to say "You can't trust (insert position coach) or Ogeron. He'll tell you one thing, then do the opposite the very next day?" It would be hard to say that statement is wrong, because that's exactly what it looks like he did here.

I don't have a problem with making staff changes. Every school does that. The problem is with this happening the day after NSD the inference is that O flat out lied to some recruits and/or withheld information those guys would have like to have known before they signed to play at LSU. Maybe you try to get the fired coaches to "leave on their own for new jobs." Or, at minimum, wait a few days before announcing the changes (or letting info leak) so it doesn't hurt your trustworthiness in the future.

Alabama came into Louisiana and took who they wanted. Heads needed to roll

What's more embarrassing, a 19 yo tweeting frustration or an article in The Advocate about Alabama taking Louisiana's best players?

As far as embarrassment goes, whoever published an article about the tweets themselves should feel the most of it.

No, he doesn't. He needs to not comment on personnel decisions. This will blow over soon. He's a new head coach and shouldn't be criticized for bringing in his own staff.

Agreed. frick the media. Rally the kids and refocus, but he absolutely needs to act with urgency to do what's best for LSU. The players need to respect that and so does everyone else. He owes no explanation to anyone. He's the one accountable more than any other for the results, so let him do what he thinks is best for our program. The same media criticizing O are the same folks who chuckling about bama pulling a kids offer at the last minute yesterday. Screw them.

I'm glad we finally have an aggressive coach who is acting with some sense of urgency and purpose.

Remember the players reaction to when Miles was fired? Now think about the reaction to when Coach O was hired. Trust me, the players won't care come spring camp.

Is it conceivable that it looks just how it is supposed to look? If it turns out that Craig screwed over the university during the recruiting period, then firing him at the first opportunity would be appropriate, no?

We complain about the firing one day after the NSD. What if they were let go two weeks before NSD, how would you react to that? Stupid right? The bottom line is, it'll always be a problem regardless. There's a reason why they're no longer on the staff.
