Players are scared to death of targeting now.

There is a reason for the lack of finish on plays. The rules and refs are dogshit.

Pussification is ruining the game just like it’s ruining the country.

We struggle with wrapping up, which has nothing to do with targeting.

The other side effect of this is less brain trauma in 18-22 year olds.

If that was the case it should be making players more likely to use traditional head up wrap up form tackling. Yet more than ever players are just hitting and not wrapping up. Which has been a big cause of many of LSU’s missed tackles.

So theory doesn’t check out.

This is a hot take. Wow.

So being scared of targeting means I won't wrap my arms and tackle??
The rant is in rare form.

We haven’t seen that call all year. What the hell are you talking about?

Our issues haven’t been not hitting...it’s not wrapping up...

They should be.

I remember when the best tool a referee had to sway a game was anonymous holding he could use to kill a drive at any time. So the rule was changed so they had to assign the call to a specific player.

Now they can selectively use targeting because intent is not a factor.

Not Delpit... he goes for the hit every time but sometimes needs to wrap up

For targeting, officials will have to confirm every element of the call for a player to be penalized. If any component of targeting, like a player aiming at an opponent with the intent of attacking, is absent, the call on the field will be overturned.

Also I like how I got downvoted by a shitload of people who apparently arent aware that the rule actually changed. Its why we have seen way fewer calls

Targeting is easily the most misunderstood penalty on this board.

Sounds good on paper, but that’s not the reality.

Example: The UK D lineman who was ejected yesterday had the UF QB slung into him, but he was still ejected for lowering his head. At full speed there’s no way there was intent.

This is the latest way to have refs influence the outcome of games.

not so bozo. Kentucky lineman got called for targeting the UF QB. ejected without any review.

He did the same shite last week before the Texas game. Not sure what his obsession with targeting is or what it has to do with LSU but whatever.

nonsense, the game is still plenty violent, and brain injury is a real thing.

Just don’t lower your head and wrap up, and you’ll be fine. It’s simply a matter of playing smart.
