Florida wants to play November 19th or maybe even work something out so LSU plays a game on October 29th. But LSU refuses and just wants Florida to forfeit.
We'd look like idiots. It could tarnish our brand. It won't be considered.
The game will be played, most likely. If it's not, it won't be a win or loss for either team.
Forfeit should have been brought to the table last Wednesday. It became obvious that Florida was looking for a way out. Alleva should have been pushing the forfeit angle then.

Agree.
If a forfeit was going to happen, it would have already happened. It's too late now.

Anyone saying we should "demand" a forfeit, is out of touch with reality.
Believe it was my second post to you on this OP, I used demand. Poor choice there, the remainder have been not to deal from a position of weakness.
You have given a "solution", we just disagree on the position from which a solution is arrived.

I honestly think the scenario of moving the LSU/Arkansas game is a lot more likely. And honestly, it wouldn't be too bad of a situation for LSU.
This has probably been discussed, but does the SEC commissioner have any authority to order the rearranging of schedules? Obviously with South Alabama, no, but this question is assuming USA agreed to play us earlier.

Sankey: We want you to move the game.
Arkansas AD: They want us to move the game.
Beilema: frick them. frick you.
Arkansas AD: Bret says frick you.
Sankey: But it was so easy on The Rant.
This fantasy that you have that they will do anything other than laugh at our misfortune is laughable. You are at this point drunk on your own awesomeness. It's a beautiful world you have created, alas, not tethered to reality.

Florida created this mess, let them figure it out and foot the bill. No one else needs to be inconvenienced. If it creates chaos in the SEC, Great!

There are a lot of different opinions and solutions for this. This thread is simply about the scheduling aspect of this. If we are going to play Florida on November 19th, I think this is the best way for LSU to do it, so we can keep all of our home games.

He spent 15 minutes composing an "argument" in the voice of the prosecutor from My Cousin Vinny that 1) is unreasonable 2) is unfair to Florida, no matter their level of fault this week, 3) will NEVER happen, but most importantly--especially for LSU fans, 4)it makes us look like immature, petty, petulant children. It will not stand. It is a terrible, terrible, terrible opinion. No matter how eloquently you may dress it up. Lipstick on a pig and all that jazz.

While your suggested solution seems the most reasonable, it's not going to happen. Arkansas is not going to change their schedule around to accommodate us, and they definitely won't give in to any SEC requests to do so; neither will Georgia. The Powers That Be at both schools just saw Florida tell the commissioner they weren't going to play, so they know he doesn't have any power. They will laugh in his face if he makes that request.
There's also not going to be any forfeit; the time to bring that up was Tuesday or Wednesday, to ensure the game be played in a timely manner. You can't come after the fact- Monday, or next month- and try to invoke it later.
Pressure will be applied to LSU to cancel out the South Alabama game and play November 19, but Alleva (and the Chancellor) should hold their ground. Say "we offered several remedies, they were ignored. We have a contract to play someone else on that date, and we're not breaking it".
Bottom line, these are big-time men who will run over someone if they see he's weak, and Florida just pushed the commissioner around. If we do their bidding after that, then we're open game for the other big dogs in the conference, and the NCAA at large.
This is going to take Sankey down, but that's his problem.

I still can't wrap my head around this thought. LSU would have had the appearance of inconsiderate asshats if we fronted that position on Wednesday. We did the right thing by offering multiple options to get the game played and that is why FU is the one playing from behind in public perception right now. Yes, we will likely have to alter our our schedule somewhat begrudgingly at this point but this game will in all likelihood will be played.

Awesome post. What was it you were saying about the big boy table earlier?
It is a lot more likely that the LSU/Arkansas game would be moved than the Georgia/Florida neutral-site game. That was my post. If you disagree with that, then go for it.

However, the biggest thing I got out of Sankey's interview today on CBS was his "togetherness" and "family" mindset.
He gave subtle hints that this would be a collective effort by the SEC, which means a collective effort of ALL of the schools.
I heard that and really hoped that's what he was saying. I am scared he was just talking to us, though.
These bastards have us fighting amongst ourselves as bad as Lee/Jefferson and Les Miles. I apologize Larry and Pimp. Allow me to extend an olive branch in the spirit of unity and a house divided and such. We can't let them tear us apart like this.

Who knows at this point.
My bottom line is this... If the LSU/Florida game is to be rescheduled, another SEC game will have to move.
LSU won't agree to play three straight road conference games to end the season, with one of them coming on short rest. Gary Danielson has already started that criticism campaign today during the interview with Sankey, when he brought up the player safety argument.
There will be a ton of pressure for this game to be played. For it to be played, an SEC game will have to move.

Whatever it takes to keep all games

That's the best scenario yet. Not ideal, since Alabama will have a bye week advantage going into Tiger Stadium, but playing Arkansas before Alabama should help, and following the Bama game with a winnable non conference game is also good.

Actually, your original reply just kind of rolled off of me. But your follow-ups have concerned me somewhat. Is this your normal manner of evaluation a differing position than yours or a ruse for all of us to marvel at?
Have a great day tomorrow.

I'll say it again then with the hope that it sinks in. It's a beautiful world you have created, alas, not tethered to reality. I truly prefer your vision of mutual cooperation for the benefit of us all, but I acknowledge the real world, and that I must bow to it, and not it to me. In the real world, Arkansas scoffs at our misfortune. If they are forced to acquiesce it will severely undermine Sankey politically with yet another SEC school. Do you really see him picking all these fights for little old us? Won't it be easier, since he has already burned his bridges with us, for him to pressure us to cancel the November 19 games? C'mon man, your faith in Sankey is totally undeserved....
