If it has gotten this much traffic on this site, it has 100% been seen by LSU's athletic department.

I can promise you that.

However, I think the reason for not wanting to push the championship game back a week is because it would throw a wrench in the college football playoff and bowl selection process.

How much would it really change though?

So we, LSU, will compromise. UF gets what it wanted so they should have no problem coming to Death Valley on 11/19. That's our "coming together" and meeting in the middle.

I like it, but SEC/UF will never accede to this.

It might not change anything. I'm just not sure they'd want to do it.

Also, it would potentially allow Alabama or Tennessee an extra bye week before their conference championship game; something other conferences' teams would not be afforded.

Should it really matter to other conferences how we pick our champion.

It's not only about how we pick our champion. It's about the overall college football playoff selection process, as well.

It wouldn't be an enormous deal, but I don't really think it's something that will be given serious consideration by the SEC, either.

Any neutral-site game will be tough to move, IMO. Although it would be more feasible to move the SEC Championship Game than the Georgia/Florida game.

Sounds good. I kinda would like to see us give up the home game on November 19 and play UF then. Move the TAM game to Saturday. Have the benefit of two open date games prior to our November run. We run the Table from here out we have a solid resume for playoff consideration. Lots of Football to be played.

And LSU should be ok with that. Ok in the sense of walking away, not giving up our home game.

The only reason LSU needs to play this game is if we run the table. So if UF were to assume that position, we say ok. Guess we're 'not coming together'. And as 11/19 approaches, we consider changing our position slightly every week, unless we lose a game. Then just have fun with it.

This is not on Florida, even as cowarardly as they were.

Thank you for your kind remark, I took a couple of low blows last night on this subject. I think my case and it's justification has been made. Tripping is not part of my lifestyle at this age!

In regard to this being all on the SEC, I generally agree. That said, Foley (FL AD) is the person who came out and stated their refusal and its basis to play the game. In regard to the SEC permission issue that allowed this, I'm not entirely sure how that works or if it is even applicable here.

My understanding is there were on-going communications between the three (or more) parties, with offers made by one party (LSU), listening by the SEC Comm and Foley making "his" final determination.

What I am saying is this, the SEC should have a right to determine how a championship is determined when one school makes a "stand-a-lone" decision while ignoring alternatives that were there from the git-go.

Except for the $$$ issues, BayouBengal03 does have valid points in his proposal.

No doubt, a forfeiture will not occur. So...let's see how the SEC can make this benefit UofF because they do have a stake in the decision that Foley made.

Maybe you could post a new link on the SEC Rant since the one I posted is on the Rant scoreboard?

frick that game. frick florida. frick the SEC

LSU doesn't need to do shite except stand their ground and hope the football team wrecks shite thru the rest of the season and hopefully keeps the SEC out of the playoffs.

I am a old fan. I've seen the SEC screw LSU since the 70's. frick them. They made their bad, LSU should do NOTHING to help them cover their arse. frick SKANKY and those gumps in birmingham

LSU @ Florida on November 19th in Gainesville.

Obviously, this could never happen.

There simply is no way that Gainesville could conceivably recover from Hurricane Matthew by then. duh.

Send this idea to the "Delicate Genius's" at Gumpland Central. (SEC Office)

Doesn't do any good by just making the suggestion here.

Seems like a logical move, but we just saw "Reason and Logic" go out the window with the Florida fiasco.

The DG's probably haven't even considered this idea because it makes sense..........

Because demanding a Florida forfeit is completely unrealistic and childish, to be completely honest with you.

No, it really isn't. It's what Alleva should have been doing from the start.

No one expects Florida to actually forfeit, but if that's the narrative - that their refusal to play should result in a forfeit, the game would already be set for Monday.

It's the best way to get Foley to act like an adult.

And if they won't back down from the 19th stance, then they SHOULD forfeit being they're the party that backed out in the first place.

It's already Sunday. It's too late for that.

If you're saying that should have been the plan the whole time, then fine. But, as of now, that's not really an option.

Just thinking that if it had been Bama going to Gainsville, instead of LSU, the SEC would have made sure this game was played this weekend.
