it’s amazing how this record has stood for long!

Pete had no 3 pt line, no shot clock, freshmen couldn’t play so he played 3 years only… unbelievable how great the man was. I wish he played in todays era of basketball…

Whether he gets it or not, the top two scorers in NCAA history played for their dads.

That's weird.

His record is NOT in jeapordy. His record is 3,667 points in 3 years with no 3 point line. THAT IS THE RECORD. IT IS NOT BEING BROKEN regardless of what the media is saying.

Press Maravich was one of the best Xs and Os coaches in basketball history.

But he made no bones about it; he was coming to LSU to showcase Pete. And in the long run, that was good for LSU basketball.

LSU was never much more than a .500 team with Pete. When the Tigers played John Woden’s UCLA Bruins, Wooden stated the mostly-successful formula good teams used against Pete and LSU: “We’ll try to hold him to his average and not let the others score much.”

And of course a couple years after Pete left, LSU fired his father. This pissed Pete off and he was not a rah-rah LSU alumnus—he stayed separated from LSU.

i agree that Pistol is and will always be the scoring champ, but in the actual record books Antoine Davis will hold the record if he makes the points… it’s not the media it’s history lol

Got to play 5 full basketball seasons. He lost zero games due to Covid, yet the NCAA gave him a 5th year for no good reason at all.

Yeah, who would have guessed that coaches sons would have success?

Thought one of his sons played here briefly?

Josh did, but Pete had already passed well before then.

They gave everyone a free year who was on a team in 2020.

5 years with a 3 point line and shot clock vs 3 years with no 3 point line and shot clock. Pistol still has the record in my eyes. That kid only averages 25 points a game whereas Pistol was around 43 or 44. No comparison.

This guy doesn't even shoot the ball that great. He just has the ultimate green light with his dad as the coach

His all time scoring record is cool but his real crazy record are his ppg numbers. Try to imagine somebody scoring 44 a game for a whole season

to be legit, the kid points have to be accounted for 3 pts line Pete didn't have

Pete would have average 55 a game

and he did it in 3 years, not 4

case closed, Pete is king and it's not close

PM's record is not about to be broken. That will never happen. This will be a new record for modern day bball.

When do they play again? And how many points does he need to break it?

today, will be their last game if his team loses, and his team (15-18 record) is playing the #1 seed in their conference tournament

This is not modern daybasketball. It’s Covid basketball. The man got 5 full years to play college ball.
