Phil Simms "Joe Burrow doesn't have an elite arm". I turned it off as soon as that was said.

That's literally the only negative and it's arguably true. He was highly complimentary otherwise. He also mention Lawrence and Herbert and had criticism of them.

He doesn't. I don't see why everyone gets pissy when this is brought up.

I still think he is going to be a great NFL QB.

And his WR argument is fricking stupid. There are plenty of WRs without elite speed that are damn good. I get what he is saying, but still.

Elite arm strength is nice, but not the most important trait.

I've never seen someone throw it like Jeff George. Jamarcus is another example. Those guys could throw it away and put it in the upper deck if they wanted to. They also fizzled out in the NFL.

Elite accuracy, and elite touch, on the other hand, will always succeed. Joe Montana never blew you away with rockets, but he always put the ball past the defender. That wins.

Simms talked about haters, and said "it's like saying you don't want your WR to be faster". Well, Jerry Rice ran a 4.71 in the 40. That's pretty damn slow, and it was then too. It also didn't mean shite, because you still couldn't cover him.

With all the strength coaches out there, isn't it possible to work on this?

He doesn’t but IMO that is one of the most overrated traits to evaluate. I’ll take accuracy, pocket awareness, f , ability to move and get the ball to playmakers . most importantly the ability to recognize defenses . Joe has those in spades.

He literally bowed down to Joe, and then he (he being an all time great NFL QB) gave one critism, and that's what you hear?

Damn baw.

Well it's true. That's about the only knock that can be made on him. Not every qb in the nfl has elite arm strength. You don't have to if you can dissect the field and have master pocket awareness and down field vision.

Drew brees has never had elite arm strength but he's earned a nice career doing most of the others exceptionally well.

It is that these supposed pro analysts don't see the obvious that Rick Neuheisel and most other college football analysts called early on. This guy is Tom Brady, and I will add the following..."he moves a hell of a lot better than Brady ever did." The ONLY question I have is will the Cincinnati Bengals open up their moth resident wallet and get some help in free agency. BTW, accuracy is definitely important but as Todd Blackledge said what sets Burrow apart is he "processes the field faster than any QB I have ever seen." But hey, we need to defer to Phil Simms. Please tell me what Boomer Esiason says too.

Your post is great evidence for actually watching an interview before commenting on it. Very positive analysis of Burrow by Phil Simms.
He also said Joe will not likely have a receiver corps as talented in the pros as he did at LSU.

I’m not saying Joe Burrow has an elite arm but I wouldn’t base my opinion of what Phil Simms has to say. What’s even more hilarious is his son who tries to give his expert opinion.
