I guess Taylor was downgraded on some blocking on run plays, but the whole team had trouble run blocking.
I recall he had a drop early on a would-be first down. Don’t recall if he had others.

Chester is 6’6”, that’s not typical for a center. It’s really hard to get leverage like that as a center. Guys who are that tall better be elite with footwork and technique. I remember Ethan Pocic being tall and he played center at 6’6”

DJ Chester, C – 52
Miles Frazier, RG – 57.5
Caden Durham, RB – 58.2
Mason Taylor, TE – 58.8
And this is why we couldn’t run the ball.

A bunch.

I believe this played a role in some of Nuss’s decisions. While he never got sacked, I thought the inside pressure was pretty consistent.
Hester was saying all night that they were giving us the middle of the field the whole game. Guys were getting separation there. Maybe one of the reasons Nuss didn’t go to them was because he couldn’t see them with all that inside pressure. Ole Miss’s DL is good, but it’s their inside guys that really good. Their edges weren’t really a factor, but they got pressure up the middle that probably had Nuss looking to the outside or down the sidelines more than he would have liked.

I wonder if they have him at Center because he’s actually the best center, or if they just think he’s the 5th best OL. We signed a highly rated Center last class, who’s probably not ready as a true freshman. Wouldn’t surprise me if he takes a big step next year and takes the center spot and they move Chester to guard or tackle.

Without zy Alexander lsu would be screwed.
Frazier has had a bad yr. Moving in the wrong direction.

Our receivers did not get much separation on Saturday.
Missing two guys that really could have helped in this regard.

we'd need Mbenga or someone to step up as C but I could see Chester improving if all he had to do is block.
Coen Echols hopefully. Mbenga doesn't look like a center to me.

OM had one of the best DLs in college ball.Walter Nolan will play on
Sundays.Sometimes the other team has better matchups than we do.Our
OL is good but their DL is elite.

Chester, Frazier and Taylor all got dominated by Ole Mrs' DL. That's why Durham's grade is so low.

Tough game for Mason. He struggled to get open and that was pretty surprising. Not good for his NFL draft film

Frazier gets bullied way too much
And he fricked up Durham's foot, so there's that.

Umanmielen was out. And overall, Ole Miss didn't really go for pressure. It was more about having numbers in coverage. So, not to detract from the overall OL performance, but it wasn't as difficult of a game in some aspects as it may seem on paper.
More crosses, slants, etc., probably would've gotten the chains moving more.

I still don't understand how these grades work.

Not an upper level SEC OL,Coach.
Even with Campbell, Dellinger and Jones, they can't run block w a s.
Don't keep telling me how good he is, because he's really not........

biggest weakness of Nuss to a lot of people is his arm strength..
seriously, how do some of these people have a job? Zero effort given to do any research as it relates to Nuss. He has clearly never even watched film on him.

Yes, first drive of the game he dropped a third down pass that would have kept the drive going. He didn't catch a pass over one yard until the 4th quarter, but the first fourth down catch was a laser he got his hands out front and caught, it was a big one.
