Chasse, Burrow, Clyde and others were great. But, orgeron was the head coach. He gets credit from me for getting the team together and putting together a perfect season
I agree, you have to give O credit for putting those pieces together.

But I'm afraid it was freak luck. Kind of like the "blind squirrel" analogy - where it occasionally finds a nut just out of random good fortune.

So yes, credit is given, but we can still realize it was a total one-off anomaly.

There are so many things about pro football that are unjust. Currently, Roger Goodell’s soft treatment of Washington owner Dan Snyder leads that category.

What’s this all about? Team name?

I give him the credit due for recruiting that 2019 team and putting together the staff to coach them up, although it looks like the later was luck. He is a pretty good DL coach, but the fact is he could not draw up a QB sneak (just talk to his colleagues with the Saints). He is not an X & O guy, but totally dependent upon his staff. Thanks for 2019, but it’s time for the Tigers to move on… regardless of the cost.

Burrow turned out to be a great QB. But it's revisionist history to say that should have been obvious in 2018. Hell, Urban Meyer, who by that time had won three NCs in his career passed on Burrow to name Haskins as his starting QB.

Not to mention, he was looking to go to Nebraska (where his dad had played) and they told him 'No thanks. We're good at QB'. Thank you, Huskers.

Burrow’s shoes, making nothing

Burrow will earn the vast majority of the money in his rookie contract this year, which is why the signing bonus is key for rookie deals. He is scheduled to earn $24,490,100 in cash in 2020. The figures over the next three years are roughly $2.3 million, $3.9 million and $5.55 million, respectively.

That’s not counting endorsements.

Evidently LSU legal team is also pretending. They could have released Coach O for cause over the Guice rape coverup but chose to pay him millions. I guess LSU only hires lawyers that graduated from Auburn.

Coach O gets some credit for 2019 but he must also take most of the blame when most of his brain trust moved on.
His inability to talk first class offense and defense coordinators to come to LSU and his accepting third rate people to fill those roles contributed to his downfall.

Orgeron, who had not met with his coaching staff for at least the first two full days after the announcement of his departure

Any reason at all to believe that Peter King of all people, who does not even typically cover NCAA would be the first to break this information if it were true??? Similar to the Coach O's girlfriends' kids interfering in team drills reports that came out that several players have since debunked???

I don’t know if King noticed, but Burrow’s not living in a refrigerator box under an overpass these days, and his collegiate performance set that up.

I don't necessarily care for all of his takes, but here he is right on point.

He got one thing right, soft on Washington owner Snyder while making Payton sit out an entire year

Payton is his employee. Snyder is his boss. The commissioner is employed by the owners. I don’t like Goodell, but he has very little room here. Nor do I believe the other owners like the idea of setting a precedent of commish forcing a sale of the team, bc then the employee becomes the boss

Considering Saban was winning titles when Tua was in Kindergarten, probably not.

Nicely written and my thoughts exactly. If you think about it...bringing Burrow to LSU was the first case that revealed O’s poor judgment and decision making. To go after a QB that nobody wanted due to his limited athletic abilities and lackluster performances should have been a regrettable mistake. It not only demonstrated poor judgment, but also showcased O’s low standards and expectations for LSU as if they did not deserve anything more than a second-hand and second-rate QB. As irony would have it, this poor decision brought us the greatest college QB and greatest college football team of all time, but by all accounts, it was a bad decision at the time. I guess technically, we should be thanking Brennan for Burrow. After all, it was inability to mature and develop into a confident and capable starting QB that forced O and staff to go QB shopping.

Burrow will get paid a lot more than O for going 15 and 0, winning a title, and having the greatest performance by a QB in the history of college football. Ole Pete thinks Burrow made nothing.
