The door to Pete's old locker room in the cow palace is on the north-northeast side of the dirt floor. The door actually opens onto the dirt floor. There is no "back door" opening onto the concourse. This is the only way into the locker room. The writing denoting pete's specific locker is gone, but everything else about the room remains untouched. It's a time warp, and cool as hell to just soak up the vibe.

Thank you for the info! So if I walk into the Ag Center from the front doors by Highland Road, I walk on the dirt floor as far ahead North as possible and to the right there should be a door? Is it to the right of the livestock entrance from the stockyard?

Also, is there any way of knowing if Chicken made your thread a classic one or is not since you can't find?

Finding the locker is difficult and I haven't been successful yet on two tries. Given the new info, I'm going to check soon. There aren't many people around except maintenance and some office workers upstairs. I would go in carefully and try not to look too obvious but it doesn't seem to be as big of a problem to access as the Huey Long pool would be!

The cow palace seems to never be open to the public, but if you can't find a way to sneak in there... you're not trying hard enough. I've never been shot down, and I've been in there many many times.

If you were to walk onto the dirt floor from the side closest to Highland and walk straight across toward the livestock gates at the east end, the locker room door is on your left. It is on the north side, toward the east end, and the door is hard to find because it is flush in the wall. If you closely inspect the wall in that area, and I mean CLOSELY inspect, you'll find the door.

I'll have to PM Chicken to see if he can access that old thread.

I have some pictures of the Coliseum that I took and I think I see the door you're talking about. Is it painted over in yellow paint so that you can hardly see it? Do you have to go down any stairs once you get in? Lastly, is the door a single door or double door like the old Coliseum doors used to be?

Please let me know if Chicken is able to access that thread. I know a lot of people would love to see it!

The last question - are there any lights in the room or is a flashlight a necessity?

I don't remember what color the door is on the outside. It's been 3 or 4 years since I was last there. I do remember that you almost have to open the door with your damn fingernails. I mean, it's really hard to distinguish.

It is a single door... not a double door.

Once you walk through, I believe it's 2 or 3 steps down into the locker room.

By the way, last time I was there, the water was still on in the locker room. If you want, you can take a shower. The toilet and urinal are fully functional and have served me well as my own private bathroom on many tailgating Saturdays.

The lights work. No flashlight needed.

One thing I could never figure out... what did the visiting team use for a locker room? I've dug all through that building, every single nook and cranny, and I've never found anything that could possibly serve as a locker room for a visiting team. I can't figure that out.

Thanks so much for all the info! Is the light switch easily accessible? I think I have an idea of where the door is. And the only thing down there are the lockers - nothing else besides showers?

My only idea about the visiting team lockers - maybe they didn't use them? Is it possible they just came into the building with warmups and jerseys on already?

Sneaking into the Tiger Stadium dorms.

I've heard a few of these are still serving as old storage rooms for random archives and records, not necessarily football related. But still...old helmets, unis, photos and the like have been rumored to be in a couple of them.

I have my doubts though.

I worked for the LSU sportshop and we used those dorms as storage. I would go in them twice a day everyday for like a year. Cool to look around, although just breathing in that place made you feel sick. you would find evidence of homeless people all over the place. I found a closet full of like 73 40s, along with torn out pages of what looked like gay porn. Creepy homeless dudes.

Damn, reading this makes me wish I'd inspect the Coliseum more thoroughly. I guess when I get up there this summer I will take a shot at it...and be handy with a camera. I know one of the doors used for livestock is almost always open to get into the venue. We used to always roam around campus late at night for exercise and exploring purposes as a student. But I never bothered to walk into the main arena area.

Oh well...I got time. It's not like the building is going anywhere between now and the summer.

I will definitely report back on my excursion! What I also wonder is why the nameplates were painted over. If the locker room and building in general has been relatively untouched for decades, why paint over the nameplates that were such an important piece of history?

Found the locker!!! I actually spoke with someone from Facilities Services who was sitting in one of the seats on a break and he said it was no problem for me to go look. There were people around the halls - didn't see any, but heard them talking from offices.

The door was indeed the one I thought it was, an old rickety wooden door about 2-3 inches thick. You walk down and it's a bit surreal because there are two steps to your right and an old yellow light on and that's it. I took plenty of pictures of the lockers, showers and everything else but forgot the chalkboard for whatever reason. The next time I go back, I'm going to get that.

Unfortunately, the names are painted over with a new tan paint and the can of paint was resting in one of the overhead bins. I'll never understand why they did this since it didn't seem like anyone had been down there in years. What an amazing treasure, though! I can't wait to go back.

It's a snap. Go to photobucket.com and register for a free account. Upload your pictures there--you may have to create an album name... something like "LSU Ag Center" would work for these pics.

If you resize them before you upload it'll go quicker. If you don't know how to resize them don't worry about it, just be patient when they upload.

After they're uploaded, label & tag them (don't have to but it'll help you in the future when you go back). Click "Save and continue to my album."

When you see the album page, hold the mouse over the pic, move down to "Direct Link" and click that text. It copies it to your clipboard. Paste it in your message here, highlight the url, then click the "img" button. Repeat for each picture you want to post here.

Good luck!

If someone can tell me exactly where to go to find the door, then I'll go and take some pics and post them up on my site. I am next door to Parker Coliseum every day.
