Gus Malzahn beat Saban
Gene Chizick beat Saban
Coach O beat Saban
Hugh Freeze beat Saban

What are you saying BK is in same league as Saban because of year one?

EDIT: The hypocritical emphasis of education but you’re going to have a grammatical range of child while typing the post as if your were speaking. If that’s the true example of ND education then the point he’s trying to make is silly. Word fricking economy, syntax, grammar, etc. maybe ND mislead your education like BK is misleading this football team.

Ends sentences with prepositions too

He makes some great points about Kelly being stiff and process-oriented, etc. and that we need more rah rah swagger that's LSU-like. But the counter-arguments are obvious. Ed Orgeron was 100% wacky, energetic swagger and it was a disaster. Nick Saban is stiff, process, no fun, no swagger and is the most successful college coach ever. Feels like we need both swagger and process. A healthy balance.

Edit: when I say LSU is not ND, I don't mean it negatively to LSU. in fact I mean it negatively towards ND if anything. ND culture and football culture by extension can be kinda stiff and reserved and preoccupied with image. It mostly works for ND but LSU is just a diff vibe. SEC energy, more electric feel, less held back, etc. I wouldn't want LSU to be more like ND and I don't think BK should to try to make it that way, don't know why that's triggering people?

I didn’t take it as a slight at all. This board can get pretty defensive after getting fingered on national television

Bring back O

He does deserve some recognition for turning a bench warmer into a Heisman winner, who is now the highest paid NFL player in History.
Burrows Dad was on with Jordy this morning. He left thanking Coach O and LSU for their role in helping Joe become successful and therefore making the family rich.
Nice to see someone else who recognizes the accomplishment.

Perspective is everything. I remember Saban and his crew as being extremely emotional and animated while at LSU. I remember jokes being made about who would stroke out on the field during a game first - Saban or Muschamp.

That was LSU culture, going all the way back to Dietzl (sp?).

Bama has always had that corporate vibe, "process is everything" mentality going back to the Bear.

Saban of today is a unicorn, able to change his approach and embrace the Bama culture while retaining his coaching skills.

He didn't try to remake Bama into something it had never been, and he didn't try to remake himself into something/someone else, either. He found a way to merge the two elements and become better for it.

Can BK make the same leap? It remains to be seen. Remember - even L'il Nicky needed a few years in Gumpland to evolve both himself and his teams into what they are now.

I have hope that BK will find a way to bring some much-needed professionalism back to this program WITHOUT stomping out the Tiger vibe that makes this place special - to it's fans, it's players, and most importantly to the young'uns looking for a place to play college ball.

If BK can pull off that morph job, then we have a bright future. In my opinion, though, it's way too early to try and make that call.

Just my two pennies worth, y'all.

Even taking this as true, it's still hard to make the case that Book really progressed at ND. He was basically the same QB as a senior that he was as a sophomore. He always played overly cautious, and he never developed the ability to make the more complicated reads.

BK did this:

With his rushing touchdown, Book tied for third all-time among all Irish quarterbacks with 17 rushing touchdowns, joining Rick Mirer. He ends his starting QB career with a 30-5 record, the most wins by a single Notre Dame quarterback in the 132-year history of the program.

Joe Burrrow and his Dad disagree and so does the LSU trophy case.
How many National Championship rings does Kelly have.

Yeah I don't really get the Book hate. I think BK got everything out of him that he could. He won with Book at the helm and made the playoffs twice with him. Would love to see him do the same with JD

I just worry that the players fear upsetting Kelly more than they fear the opponents. They really looked timid compared to FSU. It was mentioned that we had so few behavioral penalties compared to the enemy. I hope Coach Frank can help CBK understand the Louisiana junkyard dawg mentality is the biggest reason LSU has had the success it has had for 20 years. Every team has athletes. Not every team has the sincere desire to knock their opponent's dick in the dirt. IMO, that's why La 3 stars do so well for the team. They have a want-to that hired guns don't.
