Perspective - Hallman versus Miles

We have a chance to go into uncharted waters here - LSU has NEVER won 14 games in a season (and only won 13 games in 2003 and 12 games in other seasons under Les Miles) -
SO, when we secure the BCS championship that will make 14 wins in 1 season - only 2 wins short of LSU's wins under Hallman for FOUR SEASONS. Also, LSU lost 28 games under Hallman in those 4 seasons whiles Miles is at 17 losses over 7 seasons. At a modest 3 losses per season, Les will have to get to 11 seasons (with a corresponding 108 to 110 total wins) to match the losses of the 4 year Hallman era.

Yea, but his Southern Miss team with Bret Favre as QB beat Alabama!!!
That is why LSU hired him and why I hate Bret Favre.

So you're saying that Miles>Hallman?

I think most reasonable, non-Sabanistas would agree Miles > than all other LSU coaches in history.
As Curley was the worst LSU coach in history, ergo Miles>Curley

Can anyone name a bigger failure as a head coach at a D1 program? There's bound to be a few, but I can't think of any.

I will never forgive Hallman for ruining my enjoyment of LSU football during my early teen years.

And, I'll never forgive Lynn Amedee for throwing Jamie Howard under the bus following the Auburn fiasco.

Dinardo was awful also. Our current and previous coach are both beasts. Think we are in our golden age now.

Even though he had a winning record at Notre Dame and Curley didn't have a single winning season, I think that Gerry Faust is the worst hire in D1 history. He was the equivalent of a younger J.T. Curtis in Ohio (Moeller H.S.) and was given the keys to one of the best jobs in the country. Notre Dame was actually still relevant back then, and they hire a high school coach. BTW, his record at N.D. was 4 games above .500 for 5 years.

Dinardo deserves some credit. He took a program in the tank and made us believe it could be great again. He just couldn't keep the momentum.

I actually agree with this.

DiNardo was a good coach that made some bad decisions. He inherited a pile of shite from Hallman, recruited well and built the interest and energy of LSU fans back up. His ego was too big to hire big name coordinators, and he made some bad hires and it sunk him.
He plays a big role in our current success, because Saban inherited a very talented team, which allowed him to get the ship rolling quickly.

Dinardo won more games in his first 2 years than Curley did in 4 - Gerry's first 3 years were money. He proved LSU could be great again, though he could not hold onto the "Magic".
He handed Saban a far from empty "cupboard".

Thumbs up to Gerry. Remember we had a ten win season under Gerry and he did something that Saban did not do-beat a Spurrier coached Gator team.
