think if it's a lost season, like multiple losses, then no.

If we are somehow in playoff contention and lose Daniels, it might be worth it to burn his redshirt. Don't think Nuss would help us much in that situation.

I think Kelly focuses on the process of becoming successful and being as competitive as possible on a game by game basis and wouldn't consider a season with multiple losses as a lost season as long as the players are improving and situating themselves/LSU to be successful in the future.

If Nuss is not the guy they think could be a starter next year, then I don't think it would be a total waste. If they think Howard is that good, he would not be around for his senior year and he'd be better prepped to make LSU successful next year if Daniels has a good year and enters the draft. They could still technically give him backup reps and with good fortune still redshirt him.

Why does anyone care about a redshirt? Howard will never be here for 5 years. He will either be transferred or in the nfl

Didn’t Walker play against Southern? I would have missed it being so late in the game.

So what if you redshirt him and he ends up being a stud and you only get 2 actual years out of him because he goes to the draft as a RS sophomore?

I don't understand why he couldn't do both? Get reps on the field in 4 games with 2nd team AND keep his redshirt.

Did they change the rule?

Why? You planning on him being here 5 years?

I'd be absolutely fine with Walker getting his 4 bodybag games worth of reps and keeping his redshirt. Let him get his feet wet but don't burn the shirt.

I think a redshirt for Walker basically has no value.

And am I the only one that finds it a bit ridiculous that the HC has to "talk with the player's dad" about whether or not he could/should play?

It didn’t happen last yr with nuss & BK isn’t doing it this yr with Howard. Culotta is full of shite w this.

You think that if Walker Howard plays well for 2 quarters against New Mexico State that means he is good enough to be a high round draft pick after 3 years? I hope he is a fantastic QB, but I'm not sure why so many people are so confident that he is going to be good enough to leave school early.

You seemed to have forgot the possibility that he plays 4 years.

Redshirt only impacts whether he gets a 5th year.

Whatever it takes to keep Howard at LSU is good with me. Nuss ain't it and we all know it.

He's a redshirt freshman...A little early to consider him a bust.

Have you watched him play? He isn't getting better and makes awful decisions.

LSU was going to talk with Jamie Howard about getting Walker Howard some reps with the 2nd team even though they all agreed for Walker to be redshirted this year.

What's with this talk with their dad shite the last two seasons. Nuss and Howard.

Play the guy if he's good and ready. Their dad isn't running the program.

They wasted one of his four chances with the Southern game. They put Howard is just to hand off and scramble. It was a complete waste of one of four precious opportunities. If you're going to put him in the game make it where he can throw the ball around.

I believe Vandy is poised for a football championship run more than I believe that crap.

So we're to believe the coaches think Nuss is simply stupid or uncoachable or both.
